Default Pudding and Jello

Hi I am 1 week out of surgery and I was wondering if you know if I can eat sugar free jello and no sugar added pudding I am on the pureed part of the diet. It is really hard but I am sticking to it I have been quite emotional is that normal too and will it go away?

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hi Laura, it's nice to meet you. I was given a list of foods I can eat on the pureed diet (my surgery is the 29th) and sugar free jello, pudding and yogurt are all on it. Did they give you a list? Are you allowed to have other sugar free products? I know it's saturday, but if worst comes to worst, just wait it out and call the doc monday to confirm.

And I'm sure the emotional part is normal - I haven't even had it yet and I'm emotional!! Kepp up posted on your progress.

Glad you are home and doing well. They were giving me sf jello and sf pudding in the hospital. I would think it would be just fine, but you should double check with your doctor. Did they give you a list of what was acceptable???

Welcome to the site Laura, yes you do get emotional ups and downs you are normal. I was able to do the SF jello and SF pudding as well, I was given a schedule as to what kinds of foods to eat at each stage. I was a big help, If you don't have one maybe contact your surgeons office for one or the nutrionist.

If you are on pureed, pudding and jello is fine. Did you get a list of foods included for each stage from your surgeon or your nuritionist? If you did, check that out, they should be on the list.
One word of warning, sugar free food often has sugar alcohols instead as sweetners, and sometimes, people get intolerance to sugar alcohols, so if you feel icky from them, it may be just that.

As for your roller coaster emotions, it's quite normal. You're still at a very hard stage, unable to eat or drink much, and you still can't get up and run around.
Also, you'd probably like to have lost the weight yesterday, but you know you have a looooong hard journey ahead. If you are/were under professional care for depression, that can play a part too, so, if you are under therapy, please continue it, if you aren't then please consult your dr if you feel anything is *off*.
(((((((HUGS))))))) May your journey go well.

I lived on the stuff for several weeks!!! Check with your nut....and the emotional part will pass....I kept wondering.."what the hell have I done?"

You will get more comfy with everything and once the weight starts falling off, you will get into more routines that help settle the emotional part down!!!

Did anyone mention no sugar added Fudgesicles?

I ate a ton of them during the first weeks!! Well, not a ton. Maybe one a day, but you get the idea.

Hang in there...it does get better!

Like Doc said - I am one of those that feel sick when I eat the sugar free stuff. But yes, puddings and jellow and popsickles were all allowed. Also, instant mashed potatoes.
