Default I jumped from stage 1 diet to stage2

I feel like I did when I was a kid and had to go to "confession". I was SUPPOSED to wait until this wednesday but I needed food food. I had 4oz of cream of brocolli soup today and a sugar fee pudding. They seemed to have sat well with me. I feel fine. I was just sooooo damn sick of liquids..I thought I was gonna float away!! I am definatley taking it slow, but I didnot think a creamed soup would hurt a couple of days early. I figured the worst that could happen is I would throw it up... and I didnot thankfully

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Since you are confessing, I jumped too!!! I was supposed to do pureed foods for 2 weeks before going to soft foods, but I jumped to the soft after only doing pureed for 2 days. Fortunately, I have tried to listen to the pouch and not over do and nothing has caused me any problems.

That's good to know. I've been on this all liquid thing for 4 weeks now with still 2 more to go + 11 days of clear liquids to follow before puree. Maybe if I can't take it any more post-op, I might sneak a bite of REAL food! (I never thought I would refer to pureed food as real food!!!!!!)

jennifer, one word of warning.
You had your surgery only a week ago.
That means that the staple lines have not yet completely closed up, even if you passed the leak test. Your scars inside are still very fresh and tender adn swollen.
That's why your surgeon instructed you to stay on liquids for the first week.
At this point, you could split open your staple lines if you move up too fast.
You may FEEL you need real food, BUT, for your pouch to heal well and without complications, you need to stick to your surgeon's schedule until you are seen by your surgeon and given the clearance to move ahead.
At this point, please do NOT push it, under two weeks out is still too much early out for your pouch to be in working order. Also, do NOT depend on the fact that your pouch seems to accept the food, nor the fact that you don't When something goes wrong at this stage, it can happen wham bam without any warning.
So, even if those further out says trust your pouch, my advice is, at this point, do NOT trust your pouch, trust your surgeon first.

I can't believe your surgeon let you eat that stuff after only a week out. 2-3 weeks of liquids seem like the norm from everything I have seen. I see my surgeon in another week and hopefully I will get to move onto that stage. I am still on full liquids because of an ulcer caused by medication. I am so sick of liquids. I have been on them since Dec 15th. It really goes to show you that every surgeon is different. Good Luck on your journey.

Wendy

My doc says clear liquids for the 2 days in the hospital and 7 days after (for 9 days total) and then you move on to puree. We never do full liquids per se, but of course those are included with the puree as options depending on how you feel. Foods should be either fork tender or pulsed once or twice in a food processor. Baby food isn't necessary, but you can if you want. It seems like no 2 docs are the same!

I am on "liquids" for 3 weeks post op- BUT included in liquids are creamed soups, jello, pudding, and yogurt. So my surgeon considers those a liquid! (I do have to blend the chuncks up)

Then I get to move to purees- I can't tell you how bad I want some refried beans. So maybe you sorta didn't cheat according to guildlines by my Dr. anyway! ;o)
