Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I haven't posted in a long time, but I do read everyone's posts. I guess I don't usually have much to say. Has anyone else gotten to the point that eating is just a chore? I get tired of trying to find something to eat that is high in protein. Eggs, cheese, meat, fish, poultry. It is all the same to me. I have been trying to keep up with what I eat and I am finding that I just don't get enough protein in. I didn't do well with the shakes originally because they made me nauseated just to smell them. I just want to know if this is a phase that I am going through. Maybe I just need more variety for myself. I have always loved good food. Now nothing is good. I do cook a lot for my family. Nothing else I do gives me more pleasure than to cook a healthy meal for them. They love the fact that I love to cook for them. Ideas? Theories? Shannon |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | We don't have a Trader Joe's anywhere close to me. I think the closest one is in Arizona. When we go home to Georgia in May, I will go to the one in Atlanta. I looked up those sites and I think I will have to try some of those items. They look pretty good. I don't have a problem with new recipes. My poor family gets something new frequently. I think I have just lost my taste for food. Like someone said before I eat to because I have to not because I want to. (I paraphrased it.) Thanks for the info. I remember reading about those sites before when you first started ordering stuff from them. I will definitely place an order soon. |

| Super Moderator | How is your water intake? If you are not getting in enough water to keep you hydrated, that may throw you off, too. There does seem to be a point when eating becomes a chore for most of you because 1) Pre op (as you said) you lived for food while, 2) Post op, you eat to live. Now, you have to make a lot of choice (different kind of choices from pre op) in how much you can eat, and what will agree with your pouch, and that's a whole new way of thinking for you, so it takes time for you to adjust to that. (((((HUGS)))) Hang in there, the day will come when you can enjoy and appreciate your food again, though in a very different way from pre op.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | When I read the title of your post I guessed you were about 2.5 months out. I went through a phase for about a month that it would have been nice I could have skipped eating. I was lucky enough to go on a cruise at that time and that helped a lot because I got a chance to try all kinds of new flavours and different foods. That gave me the push I needed to get a bit more experimental. Before I was being very safe with food (think lots of cheese strings and crackers, bland chicken, etc..) My husband has also tried many new recipes for me. I started salads about that time too and these allow a lot of variety (meat, cheese, nuts, different dressings, etc...) on top. One other thing I did that helped was substituting snacks with a glass of milk and then focusing on making interesting meals. Now I enjoy eating again and just focus on keeping in healthy. Good luck, Tonya |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | You are definitely at the point where you start realizing the "eat to live" not "live to eat" as Doc pointed out. Food is just fuel...it's not entertainment but it can be PART of entertaining, you see the difference? Eating IS a chore in many respects...even now for me when I sometimes don't want to mess with thinking so darn hard about what to choose to eat!
