Question scared and need help with insurance

Dear new friends,
My mom was just diagnosed with diabetes and heart disease and according to her doctor it is because of her weight. My mom is 58 yers old 5 ft tall 300 lbs and has never really gone to the doctor. She has no health insurance, cannot work because she is the sole caregiver of three develpmentally disabled grandchildren and I can not afford the surgery. I have tried to think of everything but insurance is my only hope. Does anyone know of Texas insurance companies that will take someone with previous diagnosis, no job, and pay for this? I know it is a lot to ask but I really am lost. BTW I just bought the ebook from this site but it mostly covers those that already have insurance. Please any info will help....I really do not want my mom to die and I feel it might come to that.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Welcome to the boar, helpformom.
What a dear child you are, to be so sincere and concerned about your mother.
Is your mother eligible for Medicare or Medicaid? They cover the surgery, too, if drs vouch that she needs it. If you haven't looked into this route, why don't you?
Christyblue tells us in this thread that she had it done through Medicaid.

(((((HUGS))))) May you be able to find a good solution.

Thank you for your advice, I will check into it. I think she was rejected last year because she owns her home, but I will check into it and try again.

Default Hey There.

I am sorry to hear about your mother's health issues. Just remember sweetie, GOD does not close one door without opening up another. HANG IN THERE. I am thinking like DOC to. Try the medicaid or medicare thing again. Give your mother a hug from me and the rest of the gang here. You and your mother are in my prayers. Keep us posted on any new advances towards a healthier mom please. BE STRONG FOR MOM.

Medicaid is administrated through each state, but most allow certain assets to be excluded, such as ownership of a house or one car. The items that will cause the person not to be accepted for benefits is cash in the bank, CD's, and other liquid assets. If your mother doesn't have these assets, she should apply for Medicaid, administered through county Social Services.
