Default I am BEYOND DEVASTATED

I've been working with my ins. company for 8 months now. EIGHT FREAKING MONTHS AGO I was told that my plan provided for this surgery. MY SURGERY IS SCHEDULED FOR THIS FRIDAY. I called my ins. this morning for a totally unrelated GBS question and ended up in tears. Turns out I've been talking to ALL OF THE WRONG REPS b/c my ins. provider has a total exclusion policy. THIS ALL OF THIS after everything I've done. I am 5'2 and now weigh 333. I am almost 200lbs o/w there is no way that I see myself being able to conquer that kind of mountain. I feel like my life ended today. I know that DH would not consider taking a 2nd out on the house nor would he consider paying out of pocket. I truly feel like my life has no worth and I have no idea how to go on. I don't want to go on. This is the only thing I've been looking forward to for 8 months now. I truly feel like my life ended today.

ETA: I really want to get Craig's book, but right now I just cannot afford it. I hate life right now and I despise myself.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

T,
Don't feel like you have no worth. That is totally not true. Look at the bottom of your signature "mom to Libby, wife to Tim" you have a lot to look forward to. If it is meant to be you will have your surgery. Don't give up. Keep on working. It will happen. My PCP told me last week that she doesn't see any point in me having the surgery because I am not really trying to lose weight in the meantime. I was so mad that day, but I know that I will do everything in my power to make her approve my surgery. You should too. Even if you don't use Craig's book, the people here have so many suggestions. Insurance companies will give you a different answer every time you call depending on who you talk to, obviously someone approved something because the surgeons scheduled your surgery. They are not going to risk doing a surgery like this if they don't know if they will get paid for it. Call your surgeon's office and see what info they can give you. Just keep the faith!!!! It will happen for us!!!

First off ((((((((HUGS)))))))))
You are worth everything that life gives you.
One of the things that is difficult when you are overweight is that most people automatically put themselves on the worthless list just because of that. You know that isn't so. Think of all the wonderful things in life you have achieved till now. Being a mother and wife is worth everything, and being a good mother and good wife is a lot of hard work. If, for now, your surgery has to be shelved, at least, try to work on establishing a healthy eating habit, the kind you will need to keep to maintain when you have had the surgery. That way, you will be well prepared for the life that comes post op.
Keep in mind, everything you have done will some day turn out useful, even if it seems to have been for nothing right now.
In every bad thing, there is a seed of good, so look for that good seed, and nuture it.
(((((((((((HUGS)))))))))

I had a similiar situation with BCBSIL, and their reasons for denial made sense. It was up to me to present it appropriately. I've tried since April 2006, and had my surgery last Thursday. I had been denied 5 times.

This could happen to me too. But, you know what, I'm keeping the faith that God only knows when it is the right time for me. Have faith in all the hard work you've put since 8 months ago. Things happen for a reason and we won't ever know the reason why but life work in mysterious ways. I know you want this as much as I do too. But, look at it this way, what if this wasn't the right day for you. Leave it to time. It will reward you later on. For now just keep doing what you're doing. Everyone else have gotten denied but they don't give up. They keep struggling until the right time comes. You're a fighter and not a failure. Keep strong and pray to God to give you more strength. He knows how you feel. You'll have your surgery soon. Be hopeful.

I'm starting my process but I've already brain washed myself in the worst to come in case I get denied. But, I will not quit because I will find the way to the right path.

Keep us posted, Andrea

OMG I feel so bad for you....please don't give up...there has to be a way!

I agree with MSmom......someone must of approved it somewhere because you had your surgical date...perhaps calling them back and talking to the person handling your case might help.

I use to weigh 369 and I am, like you, 5'2"....one day I was walking down the street and a whole school bus of kids started making mooing noises and pig squeals at me......it made me so angry that I went on a diet on that day and never looked back. I lost over 143 pounds on my own. I am not saying this is what you should do but your comment "there is no way that I see myself being able to conquer that kind of mountain" hit home with me because I use to feel and say the same thing.....I am just trying to give you encouragement and to tell you we are here for you.
Hang in there....we are in for the long haul....with YOU!

Anything new? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!! I spoke to someone on regards to what just happened to you and she said a similar thing happened to her and she called again and spoke to someone different and they were able to help her. That person was a trainee and she didn't give her the right information as my friend had been denied before. My friend went through 2 denials before she was accepted the third time and it was because they were missing information but everything came clear for her. Let us know what happened if you call again. Don't give up!!!!!! Good luck.
