Default Which Diet to follow?

I am having to do a doctor supervised diet, with a dietician, for 3
months in order to qualify for insurance.

The dietician put me on a regular balanced diet of 1200-1400
calories. 6-7 Breads, 5-6 Proteins, 3-4 Veggies and Fruits, etc.

My surgeon promotes the Zone diet.

I went for my phsyc eval and meet with the
dietician and nurse. The dietician there wants me to follow a 1200
cal, high protein and low carbs, but the good ones. She says to get
used to this plan because it will be what I need to follow for the
rest of my life in order to keep the weight off.

I am confused. I want to qualify for insurance and I want to try to
develop good lifestyle eating habits.

What should I do?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Wink Hey There....

JB...
I'm Deborah, I'm 10mos. post op....I've lost 137#'s since my WLS.
Your nutritionist is exactly right....and this is the plan you will follow Post op.
OF COURSE, it will be easier when you are post op b/c you will be physically unable to eat TONS of food.
I know this amount in Calories will be difficult for you now...but concentrate on high protein LOW carb......
if you are still hungry...try protein shakes....or RAW veggies....b/c they are low in calories and carbs.....

Before my surgery...I was confused by this advice from my nutritionist as well...actually I was a bit "miffed"....I didn't think it would be possible after surgery....but you will be amazed...You will have an easier time of it AFTER SURGERY.

Hope this helps....take it easy....just do whatever your insurance requires.
Hang in there.

Hello there! To be honest, it is all rather confusing at first. It continued to be confusing for me post op, but it is slowly becoming easier. You have to remember you are trying to change habits that you have developed over a life time and it won't happen overnight. Just consider yourself a "work in progress", relax, and take it one day at a time. Remember to keep the "big picture" in mind. Don't beat yourself up if you slip up, just get back on the wagon as soon as possible.

Getting used to high protein, low carb is best.
However, if you find it hard to jump right into the wagon, one way to do it is start with 1400 regular balance diet and wean yourself to 1200 protein priority diet.
Your lifetime habit of poor eating could have made you sugar dependent, so stick to the good carbs with any diet.
