Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I was wondering if anyone has BCBSIL? I have read on some posts, and some other message boards that people have problems with them and that is my ins. co. If anyone on here has this ins. and has had any problems with them when it comes to approving the gastric bypass please let me know. Thanks!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hi ya. I dont have BCBS now but I talk with insurance companys on a daly basis. This is what I would do if i was in yalls shoes. CALL THEM ! LOL ask them for the criteria that a person would have to meet before being covered by gastric bypass. If the person your talking to dosent answer your questions..hang up and call back. You will be conected to another person. And document the call. The name of the person and date and time. If your lucky you can request a copy of the critera sent to you by fax or mail. I will have to learn to start a new thread to include all this info and what times are now compared to just 2 years ago when it comes to insurance companys and covering this surgery. So my advice to anyone call em your self first and see what your up against. The fight to get what you deserve. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I have had every possible problem. the all lie, and if you talked to many. almost everyone there has had Gbs and apparently only the people who don't work for BCBSIL have the problems. Do you have a self funded plan?

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Do you know what other message boards you have been on. I am collected up info on BCBSIL. I don't think that they operate ethically. they are always adding something for you to try. and after you try it, it isn't good enough. I wonder if anyone has every been approved by them. and how do they get away with what they are doing.

| Newbie | It took me a year, but know I know the logic they use to get approved. In many ways, I understand why they took this approach. The people who review are very candid and helpful when you quiz them on what the hang up is. I found the Medical Director physician willing to assist me when my Benefits Dept asked her to call me. As a result of their help, I was approved and had my surgery on Feb 8 after 5 appeals. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | really, they told me I couldn't talk to the Medical director. Is it a company plan. are you the employee? any direction would be great.
