Question Medical History Review

After being approved for the surgery on 3-17-2006 by Humana they send me out a letter stating they are now doing a medical history review and that if anything differs from what I put on my application they will send it back to underwriting and get them to put an exclusion on my policy for this procedure.I have had this insurance since 2004 so dont you think they would have already checked all this info out.I sent in all proof of my previous insurance and a release so that they can get info my my docs.I faxed it yesterday and the lady handling it called to say she recieved the info.can they really turn an approval into a denial? they told the surgeon office I am using that they approved me on medical necessiaty.Any thought would be helpful.Teesha

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Welcome to the board, Teesha.

Sorry, I'm no expert on insurance --Craig is, here, because as you can see, he did extensive research and wrote a book on it-- but if you gave the your medical history in all faith, and held nothing back, then I don't really see why they would deny after approiving. Maybe they had some trouble recently where someone was dishonest, and just checking out on everyone as a routine?

Wow. That is very interesting Teesha. I have never heard of an insurance company doing that. I am not pro by no means but I really don't see any problem if everything that you submitted them was correct.

Welcome aboard and good luck with surgery!
Shelley

good luck sweetie, I hope that they don't deny you after all of your hard work. just like they said, it would probably be a well used investment in your case to get craig's e-book. I hope that it all works out and that you stick around.
