Angry The all and mighty insurance companies

Time for me again to raise some ya know what about the frigging insurance companies...........This isn't inparticually for myself its for everyone trying to get a life saving surgery to happen with out so much grief. I mean lets face this ........ Lets break this thing down

They would rather....................................

Pay for a Heart attack. Have you in ICU for days. Pay at least 50 grand for it, Im sure allot more. Not counting the medications, the Dr's visits, the test you will need the rest of your life.

Pay for a Stroke, ICU for a few days, Brian surgery if needed and rehab you will need to recover and the Dr's visits, test for the rest of your life. This one is over 50 Im sure of it.

Pay for you Medications, Dr's Visits, test, Insulin, Testing supply's and possibly next to a Neuphrologist for your kidneys and his test along with classes on how to manage this horrible disease.

Medications, Orthopedic Dr's braces, walkers, canes, joint replacements medications therapy, possibly even a nursing home for 2 weeks while recovering from surgery.

Paying for a C-Pap machine so you can sleep without dying in your sleep one night because you have sleep Aepna so bad you just might. The machine cost, hoses ever 6 months the mask and the filters, The yearly Dr's visits to see if your getting enough pressure through the mask. Not to mention the New Sleep Studies you will need to see how much they need to turn it up.

The CT Scans The MRI's you have for pain the Dr's just can figure out what is causing it.

The stomach medications and test to the Gastro Dr's they will pay for when your stomach acid starts coming up burning you esophagus up.

Should I go on? The insurance companies would rather pay millions of dollars than to let a person have a surgery that will in the long run save them money and save the persons life needless to say there health.

I have looked into the cost of this surgery locally here in Virginia. The Dr's charge 25,000 for the Gastric Bypass. 15,00 for the Lap Band. Yes you will have hospital cost with this but nothing close to 50 grand Im told counting everything.

If your given state assistance you are approved for this surgery usually in most cases. Medicare will pay for this surgery. That is the Government insurance. So why in the h&(&98 don't a private insurance company that you pay premiums to each week or month pay? Good question.

If any of you hear of a movement going to Capital Hill let me know. I will join them to help fight to get this a mandated surgery to cover no matter the insurance.

Your insurance policy's will pay for Alcohol Detox, Drug Detox, but they wont pay for Food Detox? That is pretty much what it is. They refuse to pay for Weight Loss Medications...... because we did it to our-selfs. They don't see food addicting.

My feeling is this...... I wonder how many-OBESE people are in top management at Insurance companies? Probably none....why because there obese.

We are discriminated against in our daily life. That includes jobs ! Now think about this....if you had to go look for a new job right now without having this surgery...... and being the person you were before you lost weight do you really think they would look at you differently? You bet they would. If not buy the way you look....its how much the insurance premium will raise when they put you on the policy. The number of days you will have to miss because you are that BIG. Will they have to make special accommodations for you to work there?

OK Im done for now........GRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.
