Has anyone ever had a nurse from the insurance call them to see how they were doing? I received my approval for surgery on 10/11/07 and am still awaiting a surgery date. However, last night I checked my messages and there was a message from a nurse at my insurance company. She said that she just wanted to check on me and she how I was feeling.....is that normal?  I have had nurses call from my PCP office, but never from the insurance company.I haven't called back yet....

Hmmmmm that does sound wierd. My insurance company was only deaing with my doctors office. I had a date before I was approved but then once they got it they called me and said its on. Did they tell you wehn they would give you a date. I would think your surgeons office would need to set it up. I would calll the surgeons office and ask about that. Hmmmmm.rd

This may have been a call by mistake. I know my old insurance company after you had surgery or somthing a nurse would call you up and check on you. It can be a good thing. They also will call you once they get a claim in showing you have diabetes heart problems etc... Call her back and let her know you havnt had it done yet........she may be calling to help give advice for later to.

yeah maybe by mistake. i know about a week or two after surgery my insurance co had a nurse call me to make sure i wasnt puking or bleeding or anything LOL! maybe they were mixed up and thought you'd had it already?

That's probably it. The nurse might be thinking I already had the surgery. I called and left her a message this morning letting her know that I didn't have a surgery date set yet and I was still pre-op.

You were right. I received a call from the nurse this afternoon. She was very nice. She only asked question like what I did for a living, what kind of support I have, if I had any questions about the procedure, etc. She said that my insurance assigns everyone who undergoes this surgery ( as well as people who have other medical conditions) a nurse whose job is to be available to assist with questions, issues, and finding in-network medical care if needed pre and post op. She gave me her direct line and promised that if I called and had to leave a message, that she would personally call me back w/in 24 hours. It is very comforting knowing that I will now have access to another person who will be able to help with any questions I have while I move on to a new chapter of my life. With the nurse, my family, and everyone on this forumn ...I feel everything is going to be just fine. ...you guys are such a great resouces and support!
