Default Sausage Cheese Balls

3
cups Original Bisquick® mix
1
pound bulk pork sausage
4
cups shredded Cheddar cheese (16 ounces)
1/2
cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2
cup milk
1/2
teaspoon dried rosemary leaves, crushed
1 1/2
teaspoons chopped fresh parsley or 1/2 teaspoon parsley flakes

Barbecue sauce or chili sauce, if desired

1.
Heat oven to 350ºF. Lightly grease bottom and sides of jelly roll pan, 15 1/2x10 1/2x2x1 inch.
2.
Stir together all ingredients, using hands or spoon. Shape mixture into 1-inch balls. Place in pan.
3.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until brown. Immediately remove from pan. Serve warm with sauce for dipping.

Per 1 inch ball:

Calories 40 Sat Fat 1.5g Protein 2g Carb 2g
** I am going to try this recipe next weekend, probably use turkey sausage and fat free shredded cheddar, which will drop the calorie count further, they sound good, they are suppose to be an appitizer, could be used for a meat dish with some changes, even having 4 sausage balls it would be 160 calories and 8 grams of protein, I could make them into patties even

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

THanks. These sound delicious. I printed the recipe and will definitely be trying it. I will use the turkey though.

I made these tonight, I used the fat free cheddar and mine melted, I didn't bake them though I slow cooked them on top of the stove, with a little no stick spray covered on low, I used carb quick instead of the bisquick and used turkey italian sausage, made 7 good size balls, with the changes the calorie count was 150,
carbs 6, protein 22. They turned out pretty darn tastey, I use Kraft's fat free shredded cheeses, the mozzerella and the cheddar

maybe slow cooking on the top of the stove is the difference, i have used reduced fat and fat free cheese in a quiche and ewe - won't do that again.

I made them tonight with sharp cheddar. Fried the sausage first and got it done and crumbly then tossed everything together and got 28 biscuits. They baked for about a half-hour to get them brown. When they came out, the bottoms were brown and crunchy, but they were soft in the middle. I had to pack them fairly closely in the baking dish and they sorta grew together, but I cut 'em apart and pulled 'em out. Three are missing in action, but they were GOOOOOD!! MMM mmm mmm MMM MMM!!!

I just made another batch this weekend. Peanut tried a couple yesterday and for the rest of the day she was dumping like a mine truck!! (May be a bit early for her yet! )

I made individual balls and put them in the baking dish, but next time I'm just gonna dump the whole mess of dough into the dish, flatten it out and cut it into squares, then bake it. The balls merge together in the oven anyway, so it'll save time and be more consistent.

I'm munching on one for lunch as I type this. I still like 'em!!

I've done these for years but my recepie called for only:

3 C Bisquick
1 lb Hot Sausage
12 Oz. Sharp fine Shredded cheese

Knead all together and form 1" balls, mine do not bake together, I can put them pretty close together too! No need to pre-grease, the sausage makes its own. I bake 350 degree for 15 min, then 325 degree for another 15 min. My whole family loves. They are great to take to any picnic or potluck.

But adding the milk, parmesan cheese, herbs and sauce is new to me but sounds good too, I may try.

I made this again tonight for a block party potluck. They were very well received!

I mixed everything, sprayed PAM in my baking dish and dumped it all in and pressed it flat. Whole lot faster than making it into balls! When it came out, I loosened it with a spatula and turned it out onto a cooling rack. A while later, I moved it onto a cutting board and used a pizza cutter to cut it into squares. Called it "sausage cheese biscuits"! Cut down the work by a huge amount!!

They still taste the same, and several folks asked me for the recipe, so I'm calling it good!

Your right the balls thing is time consuming, I will try patting it out in a flat pan next time and cutting it. Great idea. These are great cold from the fridge too, my 5 year old eats them for a very easy pre-made breakfast.

I don't pre-cook my sausage, that may save even more time....
