From a recent post by AggieCat:
I've been lurking and hadn't posted yet but I do have some advice on yogurt. I found a recipe to a.make your own yogurt and b. make your own custard style yogurt online. I tried making my own and it's a little tricky and I don't get the consistency I'm really looking for but, it does work. However, I have really had success with the make your own custard style yogurt. Think the Yoplait custard style, which could never ever be legal for post-wls folks. It's ridiculously easy and cheap too!

Take 1 sm pkg flavored sugar free gelatin
Dissolve completely in 1 cup boiling water
Let cool
Mix with 3 cups fat free unflavored yogurt (store brand works great!)
Mix in unsweetened diced or mashed fruit, don't use canned pineapple as it will cause the gelatin to fail
If desired pour into single serving size containers (I use small 4-6 oz mason jars. You can use anything you like)
Chill until set and eat. YUM!! If you find it too jelly like, then add more yogurt. Want it firmer? Reduce the yogurt. Up the protein content with a scoop or two of unflavored protein powder added to the warm but not hot gelatin & mix well! This is good because you get high protein yougurt but without blending it to the consistency of a smoothie, which is tasty but results in quick to empty liquids.
If you are like me and like the vanilla custard style, then just use the unflavored gelatin, add the sugar free sweetener of your choice and vanilla extract, or other extract you prefer. I haven't figured out a legal chocolate yogurt but don't think I'll bother. After all, there are perfectly good sugar free puddings out there and all you have to do is add protein powder to them. If you use high protein milk then you are just that much further ahead. It would only be useful if you have trouble tolerating Splenda type sweeteners and need to use an alternative.
I really like to use the small portioned containers as this helps me control portions better and keeps me from accidentally overfilling - resulting in an unhappy pouch. Also, I think the custard style yogurt with it's firmer texture stays in the pouch longer and helps to contribute to fullness sensations.
Full props to the
Home Cooking From Scratch - Hillbilly Housewife site for the yogurt recipe. They also have lots of ways to use powdered milk.
