What do you do with them??????????? I am not a bean person at all, don't like the texture in my mouth but since everyone says they eat them after surgery becasue of the high protein, I thought I'd give them a try. I bought a can tonight but now what? Thought I'd try them before surgery and get some good recipes. thanks

I mix just a little water to make them smoother then add low fat cheese, a little salsa, and a dollop of low fat sour cream.

Yes that is just how i fixed them. They were about the best tasting food I ate early out. That and cottage cheese and yogurt and sugar free pudding. You might find that your taste will change after surgery.

I get the fat-free refried beans, add taco sauce and put it in the microwave for about 1 min. When it comes out, add fat-free shredded cheddar and melt it again for about 10 seconds. I then top it with fat-free sour cream. Yummy!

That is exactly what I do with them. That and a squirt (or 6) of tobasco sauce. The Tobasco helped me to normalize my taste buds and wakes them up

I've lived without sugars for a couple of years now, but I cannot imagine life without Tabasco!!!
Nowadays I'll fry up a pound of ground turkey and mix with a can of FF refried beans, then add the trimmings as others have suggested. Goes real nice when making a burrito with a whole-wheat low-carb tortilla.

I have used the FF refried beans & heated them with ALOT of rf cheddar chese cubes in the micro. add whatever you like as far as sour cream, gaucamole, but NOT salsa early out...
it is almost like the chili cheese dip (which I LOVE as well)~~the turkey chili is lower in fat but still high in sodium so only on occasion.

I added salsa, cheese, sour cream and sometimes I would mash up a 1/4 of avocado with lemon juice then add it with the rest. Tobasco sauce is always a must

Refried beans were and still are my saving grace throughout my journey. I eat them at least once a day. They're cheap AND good for you! Gotta love that
Prof-I love the idea about the turkey and beans mixed together! I am looking for some new things to try and that sounds really good. Thanks!
