Glad you posted Martha. I too always compaired myself with the people that had surgery around my time and thought I was losing slower but you know what? I reached my doctors goal then mine plus a few. It's funny when I shop for coats and things that should last longer I still buy a large (I'm a medium) with the thought that when I put on those extra pounds this will still fit me. So many head games. I posted yesterday about a 12 year vet who has been a stable 165 and she looks really great and I'm not just saying that.

Hang in there sweetie you will get there.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I think everybodys body is different and different weights look different on different people. I am almost 5'8" which is 4 inches taller then Barbie but I am only about 20lbs more then her....I am no where near skin and bones yet! I set my goal at 159 which got me to a "normal" BMI. I have gone below my goal and still don't feel done. I am thinking 145 would be perfect. Many people carry weight really well. You can also have a lot of muscle and look smaller then you weigh. Just stay healthy and active and you will land and what is healthy for YOU!! That is my biggest goal...eat healthy and stay active. With those 2 things....you can't go wrong!! Also...please don't ever compare yourself to others. We all lose at a different pace. You have done a great job and are much better off then you were 6 months ago.

Dixie I think you will continue to lose a bit more myself. I didnt say should I think you will. Why? For some reason hitting that 200 mark or one pound below it is very hard. It seems like it teeters there for weeks. Then it will stop and take off again. I swear I seen eveyone do that. LOL. Its our bodys getting together and saying haha you played with us now its our turn. To me having a 1 starting your weight off is a great number isnt it? !! Thats why i said no above 199 ever again.

Thanks MsVickie, I sure hope you are right. It is hard to see the scale stick for so long. I should be use to stalls now I have had a few.. I really needed your encouragement. I must admit I have compared myself to others also. Having three surgery's slowed me down but the doctor tells me I am still on track. The time has passed so fast I can hardly believe it.

I agree with Not Quite Barbie--I had set two different goal weights--then went below them-I think my lowest was 125(I had alot going on in my life) My doctor said he felt I would go to 130, but that I could safely go back to 150. I have been hanging between 130-134 for quite some time now, but I actually think my body would look better at at least 150. I keep waiting for the extra pounds to come back on, and I'm sure they might. Although I may be closer to 60 yrs young I have much more energy so I know I am working the calories off, and I really watch my food intake and try to make healthy choices for myself.

only one time in my life was i thin (except birth) and it was for around a year prior to when i got married and i was at 145 pounds at my lowest. when i look at photos from that time i was a little too scrawny so i set my goal for 150. i am almost 5'10" and somewhere between medium and big boned. at this time in my life i have a lot more excess skin, probably around 10 pounds worth, so i am pleased right now at 163 - i am not going to change my goal weight but i am not going to change the way that i am eating and if i lose more that is fine, if not, that is fine too. earlier in june i thought maybe i had stopped losing because i had an 18 day stall, which was the longest i had stalled since my surgery - but now i have lost 5 pounds this month.

it is difficult to not compare yourself to other people ~ we all do that. don't let it bring you down, but allow goals to drive your determination to stick to the program and give it your all.
