I see this is a pretty "dead" section. Must not be to many Illinois folks here.
If you are from IL, where are you from? Who did your surgery and do you go to any support meetings?
I Live in Southern Illinois, near Belleville. I had my surgery in St.Louis by "New Start" and Dr. Follwell. (GREAT surgeon by the way!) The are monthly support meetings there, but I haven't been. I wish they had some in Southern IL.
I haven't met too many people from my surgeons office, even though they do a lot of Bands, RNY's and VBG's.

Hi there - I am from Chicago - born, raised and work for Chicago. Now I can't leave until I retire - Ha Ha LOL. Anyway, I had the surgery at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park which is a suburb of Chicago - maybe 5 blocks south of the city. The Doctor is Dr. Cahill - who is really good. They have a support group there as well - I always say I am going to go - but I don't and I don't know why not. I have all of you here as my support group so maybe that is why I do not miss going there. I would like to meet someone who has gone through this as well and understands that importance of this way of living. I can really appreciate the couples who have gone through this together - I would have liked to have that - but you cannot have everything. So make what you do have count.

Hi it's me Lost, I live in Chicago, my surgery was at University of Chicago ,by Dr.Prachand , support group is every first tues. of the month at 5:30-6:30 on, I do attend we talk about our ups and downs,we have clothing exchange, we have vendor days (protein,trainers, vit.) we have a nut. there to help and a psh. and we have speacil guest everyone once in a while, like one of the surgeons last month we had a plastic surgeon talking about extra skin.It's also nice to see people transform before your eyes,and that little added support and a hug now and then.All are welcome , but but I love my rr family.

Jackie- I have an appt with Dr. Follwill on Jan 17th!! I am so excited, nervous, scared, you name it! I live in Jefferson County, about 30 mins south of St. Louis. I am currently working on the medically supervised diet, and am hoping to be approved by my insurance company sometime in Jan. Glad to see someone who had experience with My New Self and Dr. Follwill on here!

Oh you will really like Dr. Follwell! He is an awesome surgeon. He can be a bit intimidating because he is a huge man (like 6'9 with a deep baritone voice) but he is very shy and quiet. I trust him implicitly. Make sure you write down any questions you have for him, as unless you ask him something he tends not to talk to much. But... His surgery skills are awesome and I am so grateful for his work...I had no complications at all from the surgery. He's a really great guy!

Yep, I know about the dog show! Several years ago I was kind of volunteering with the Belleville Kennel Club and they would always host the show out there at the Belleville Fair grounds.
If you are showing this upcoming March in 2011, I will come out and support and cheer for you! What do you show? It's hard to tell from the photo! Havenese? Maltese? Bichons? Something else?

Hi Everyone, I am a newbie and live in Round Lake Illinois. I'm just starting out on my new adventure. I went to orientation, met with the nurse and the dietitian. I'm just rolling along going through all the protocol. I was told I need a chemical stress rest and I am about ready to lose my mind with worry over that test. I really wish it was all over already but I have to sit tight and be patient. I will probably need all the help and info I can get. Well thanks for listening hope to talk to everyone soon....Moe
