Hi hippiechick72 I am sill wating surgery. I am going to my last Ins. required Dr. supervised weight loss visit next week, after that I hope to get approved and start the process! I am going to DS support group meeting at Carmel and Dr. Inman will do my surgery.

When is your surgery scheduled? I hope to have mine by this fall.......

Nice to meat you "pktwatch". I hope the insurance approval goes fast for you. Took Anthem about 2weeks. I was pleased. I am hoping to hear from Dr. Ditslear's nurse any day for scheduling of pre-op class and testing. She told me once that is scheduled surgery will be within 2-3 wks. I am on pins and needles waiting

I wish I lived closer. I am about 2hrs one way I have only attended 2 support group meetings. I met Dr. Inman at the Feb. seminar I attended. She seemed really great. I haven't met anyone I don't like yet. Even my nut, Dr. Hilgendorf, was great.

Hi kapaul4! I am south of Indy, a little town called Liberty. I am having my surgery June 6th! I go to the IU Bariatrics, dr. Ditslear. I will have surgery at IU North in Carmel. Going there tomorrow for pre-op testing. Where will yours be? Nice to meet you and best wishes!!!

I live in a small town called Portage about 30 minutes outside of chicago. I go tomorrow to for my pre-op nurse visit and to get the time of the surgery. I have doctor Stanish, suppose to be the best in my area.. Good luck!!!

I am from Bloomington, Indiana, and I am currently in the insurance approval waiting stage. I think this is more nerve racking than anything. Knowing that someone else gets to decide if you get to change your life or not, is what makes it hard. I have been praying to GOD every single day, hoping that will help with getting approval.
As crazy as it sounds, I'm more nervous now than I was when I had to have a tumor removed from my spinal cord, and woke up paralyzed.


Anyone who has made it this far, and are going through St Vincent Carmel, what sort of protein drinks did u have to get, and what kind of pre-op testing/classes did u have to do?

Hello Hoosiers from a Michigander! I have been waiting for a MI thread to open but alas. Not happening yet. Good luck on your upcoming surgeries! I 100% would do it again if I had to.

Hi Amber I am just 30 south east of you I battled my insurance for 2 years and finally they came through. I had my surgery last may and have had no problems what so ever. I hope you get your approval quickly this surgery truly is a new beginning.

Hi. I live in Greenfield just East of Indianapolis. I work in Indianapolis near Fishers. I had surgery the day after my 37th birthday at St V's with Dr Cacucci. Had a great experience.

I went home feeling pretty great. So great that I way overdid it less then a week after surgery and was on bed rest, pain meds and fluids for most of my second week.

I struggle with the protein. If the smell of the mix is to strong I will have the dry heaves. Any rec's are greatly appreciated!!

welcome Trina! I am south of Indy and had my surgery at IU North in Carmel. Glad you are doing better I have had my ups and downs but it's all worth it! Follow your dr.'s orders and don't push yourself, physically, emotionally and let the pouch guide you. My dr. told me I am not in the race yet....I am preparing for the race. Best wishes to you!
