MrA - that's what we're here for! We have placed ourselves into a unique category, so we need unique support. We may well need that support for the rest of our lives, because we need to stay focused for about that long!!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I also, have cruised a few other sites, never posted or joined until I found this one. he people on this site never make fun of the "stupid" questions, or put you down when you are having a bad day or judge if you admit you have eaten something you shouldn't. We have all been there, the caring and understanding on this site is awesome! You guys help keep me on track and are the most honest and caring people.

A person can lose all the weight in the world and look beautiful, but if they don't change the ugly inside of them, they will always be ugly.

You know I just wanted to touch on something here that is of a very base human nature.

It seems this kind of "infighting" "pecking order" or "clique" goes on with EVERY group. People who are deaf will mock other deaf people who read lips or talk, among small folks there are some very nasty battles over people who have dwarfism getting "surgical leg extensions" etc.

I have an autistic/aspergers adult son, and I have seen this kind of thing going on since the beginning.

Sadly its a sad fact of human nature, and I am no psychologist so I cannot answer WHY we do it, but I would assume it has something to do with a base dominance / pack heirchy within us.

THANKFULLY, there are some very spiritually and emotionally evolved individuals who rise above this mish-mash of "penile envy" (Using that term in a Freudian type context and not for any male bashing.)

This site is always positive and it is a wonderful, nurturing, caring site with some awesome people who I am honored to call friends, guides and mentors with me on this quest of life.

The OH site has a lot of trolls, and people who have not figured things out mentally or spiritually in their life. So they "snip" at everyone like a small dog at someones heels. Its sad, but it happens.

(NOT everyone there of course is like that. I have met a few people on the local forums that have been wonderful inspirations for me since they live in my hometown.)
Warmly,
Jackie

OH has way too much bickering going on over there...I was always afraid to post anything, as I just wasn't sure what kind of response I would get.

Glad I found RR.

I know I'm responding to this thread well over a year later but I have been on the OH site since a week after my surgery (RNY - 7/13/11) and really didn't know there were other places out there in cyberland. I stumbled onto this site quite by accident because I was looking for GB recipes. I too have noticed the snippy-ness of the posters on OH. I found myself going there less and less. I looked around here for a week at least before deciding to join. I know that every online support group will have its ups and downs. So far what I've found has been the type of support and camaraderie that I enjoy. To be honest, I've had more responses from people here than I ever did at OH, not that that's the only reason to be here or anywhere. It's just good to be acknowledged, ya know? Anywho...I'm glad I'm here now.

The way I figure it is that you have one life to live and you surround yourself with people that love and support you no matter what your size. It is your personality and ethics within yourself that draw people to you. And if people on some site just wanna sling mud then they are only looking at you superficially...and those are definately people you don't want around and shouldn't really care what they think anyway.

Sad part really is that they are probably slinging mud because others have done it to them and they are just trying to make themselves feel good inside for fleeting moments. What they don't know is it is damaging their soul. And if their real life friends knew what they were saying online they would be horrified.

I, too, am grateful to land here in this forum. I talk to my husband about it. I would never be mean to someone...especially on purpose. And, more importantly when they are at a very vunerable time in their lives. In my book that is just plain evil.
