Default OK all you Kentucky "Losers"

Let's get some dialog stated. I'll start....I live in Central Kentucky. I had my Gastric Bypass on 7/26/10. My first weigh-in I lost 10lbs. I am walking 10min in the morning/lunch and 15min after supper. The protein shakes are starting to suck but a necessary evil. I buy the 3oz protein shots at Walmart and I get the drink down. I just added tomato's to my list of items that I get to eat. I can't wait to add the fruits. I have been pleasantly surprised that I get full quickly. Anyone out there have any special advice for a newbie?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Nothing earthshaking, I'm afraid. Just follow the rules and give your body the conditions it needs to lose weight and get healthy. It knows what to do from there. Be patient, though, because it's going to do it on its own time schedule, not yours.

I've never lived in Kentucky (lived across the river from it in Indiana for a few years, though), but I've driven through it a number of times. Beautiful country!!!

Welcome to the family!!

Welcome Tiger! Where in Central KY? Where did you have your surgery? I'm a Ky gal myself. I've not got any real good advice either. Just hang in there, and you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish!

I had my surgery at St. Joseph East, Dr. Greenly. The whole weight loss clinic has been great. If I had a problem all I had to do was email someone or give them a call and they would get back with me. I think that I am back on track today. I know that I will have my ups and downs. It is great to have a place where you can vent. I started a blog so that I could get my feeling out on print and read what I am thinking. It helps me put things in perspective. I know that I can do this and I will. I know that this is a lifestyle change and I can live with that too. I can't wait until I can go to a UK wildcat basketball or football game without feeling guilty about taking up too much room. I also look forward to the day that I can get on a plane without having to ask for the seat belt extender. I have made my self a goal to loose and stay on point and my husband and I will take a cruise next November. I can't wait. Look out world I have my MOJO back

LOL Good for you!! Careful with that mojo, it can be dangerous! LOL I'm in the Bowling Green area, not too far from you. I had my surgery in Nashville at Centennial Hospital. My doc's office was wonderful too. The doc had ZERO bedside manner, but he was good...very good. The head of the surgical department.

You're going to have ups and downs. That's just part of the whole process. But as long as you keep working and stay focused, you can accomplish anything. And yes, being able to fly WITHOUT asking for that extender is a very liberating experience! You'll be there sooner than you think.

Welcome to the boards... if you ever want to chat, you know where to find me!

Hey ya'll. I live in Fort Campbell (on the ARMY post) which is right on the Ky/Tn border, but I was born and raised in Louisville, Ky. I had my surgery here on post at Blanchfield Army Hostpital. I had a fabulous surgeon and we have a wonder support group here. I am almost 6 months out. My only advice is go slow when trying new things. Especially meats. I had a heck of a time, and still do. Chew chew chew. I set an alarm on my cell phone to remind me to eat so I get in my 5 meals a day, that is my best piece of advice right there.

Thanks so much for the words of advice. I do need to set my alarm to get in the protein.

You should visit Ky sometime. I love it (except it is HOT right now).
