| HELP! Frustrated with the slow progress
OK, I was elated with the first month or so after lap-band. I was down 15lbs in the first month. Now, six months later, I'm only down 20lbs total. I knew weight loss would be slower, but its very frustrating to be eating sooo much less, have some of the restriction trouble that lap-band brings but not see the results on the scale. I don't want to give up...but I'm ready to!
How have some of you dealt with this issue? How did you re-kick start your weight loss? Do any of you have any great little secrets to get the ball rolling again?

I didn't have the lap band but I just went through a long staul myself at 6 months out...if you follow the rules (maybe take a look and see if you still are) the plateau should and will end soon! Good luck...WE can do it!

Are you keeping a food journal? If not, start keeping one. It is much easier to *cheat*, to let the fattening foods into your intake, than with RNY because you don't dump, so make sure that you are getting your protein in first. Your food program should not be that different from RNYers--in other words, at least 64oz water, at least 60g protein. Also, exercise.
Check these things out, and see if you are sticking to those rules.
(((HUGS))) Hang in there, you can do it!!

You may need to increase your exercise regimen, or at least try something new. I have had 2 stalls and started doing different things at the gym, sort of tricking my body and it has moved me passed my stall. I also changed up my eating pattern so my body never feels like it needs to go into starvation mode and hold onto everything I eat for fear of being starved. try eating less about 2-4oz 5-6 times a day and add a new exercise into your routine and I am sure you will see the scale moving better for you. I would be really frustrated if I were in your shoes too, so don't feel like you are alone, no matter what surgery you had, or even no surgery at all, ALL stalls are frustrating, so stay strong and hang in there.

Reading this is kind of scary. I just had the band placed 5 days ago. Try to remember that the weight didn't go on that quickly (even though it probably feels like it did)...you need time to let it come off as well. Think of how much you've lost so far!

I tried to not feel so frustrated and look back at how far I have come. I have lost alot of weight and inches I would not have if I tried it on my own. And I did start a diet journal again and found my hidden vices that were hurting my progress.
What I realize now is that I have th ability to maintain! I'm NOT gaining, I'm maintaining. So I have to kick myself in the butt and fix the little habits that are sabbotaging my progess and get back to work.

WHAT are you eating? What time? How many times/day?
If you cannot answer these precisely in the back of your head, then you MUST begin to journal your food and times to give yourself a brutally honest assessment of your current eating. This is a lifetime change...not just for weight loss, but forEVER.
My 2 cents...your mileage may vary.
