Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | sorry i am a gastric bypass patient..... I originally started out my journey looking into the banding but the bypass seemed the better option for me at the size i was.

| Super Moderator | ChyppyGirl/Hanadi had lap band first, which didn't work for her, so she had GBS. PM her and ask about her experience. I don't think there are any active lap banders yet on this board. Just about all of the regular posters so far are GBS post ops, as by far, this is the most popular type of weight loss surgery.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | My Best Friend just had LB November 20th....she only had 60#'s to loose...and paid out of pocket $13K to have it, b/c she wasn't covered w/ insurance. She is in the early stages...but she's lost 20 of the 60#'s and is a bit frustrated...but I believe this will work for her...IF she will work for IT! I have 5 or 6 friends that Lap Band has been very successful for...and they look and feel great. The one thing is all of them only lost about 50 - 75#'s and then came to a halt. Some only had 50 - 90#'s to loose...so it was good b/c they got very close to their goal. Things went sooo well for them, that LapBand was what I originally intended to have. It wasn't a good match for me b/c I had over 180#'s and the avg. weight lost with LB is about 60%....of excess. (According to my doctor) If you need another person to talk to that had a success with LB...let me know, and I will contact my BF Kathryn...I'm sure she'd love to talk to you.

Weight Loss Method Adjustable Gastric Band | No one has posted to this thread for a while, but thought I would chime in. I have had a great experience with my band and would be happy to answer any lap band questions anyone might have

| Newbie | ahhh, yes I have been asking this question and researching all options. I came across medimexicooptions.com and they ONLY do banding and seem to think bypass is 'old' I love all the pics on the site, very inspirational. There are next to no pics of me anywhere and I hate getting my picture taken. period. I admire those who have succeded not only loosing weight but the whole journey. surgery even scares me.always arisk. I cannot seem to loose weight though no matter what I do. makes me feel like an idiot. I will go to mexico though, they also do teeth veneers and hair removal, boy not to have to shave and my teeth are all chipped and cracking. get hold of these people and they can answer questions. I like to hear, though, from people who fight the fight and understand the struggle. |

Weight Loss Method Controlled Eating & Exercise | I have a post titled "weight loss surgery nearly killed me" that gives a very brief synopsis of my personal story involving my gastric band. I know that I am in the minority on this site for the people having bad experiences but I feel it is good for you (and everyone) to fully understand the risks. My personal opinion, due to my experience, has left me feeling like surgery is not a good option for everyone. I read recently that over 40% of all WLS have some form of complications. I understand COMPLETELY that feeling of "no other options" as I was at that point myself. It was only after my surgery had to be reversed that I finally figured out how to maintain a healthy lifestyle one day and, indeed, one meal at a time. Feel free to PMB me if you would like some more specifics on how I feel your goals can be accomplished surgery free. Good Luck!!!!! : ))
