Bariatric surgery can have great benefits, but it also can have great risks, which need to be discussed with your surgeon. There are also the psychological effects of surgery to be taken into account that result from the dramatic lifestyle changes which follow surgery. Finally the cost and question of whether you will get the insurance cover for your surgery. The treatment is not cheap and the risk of complications is always there.

I followed the next article about a weight loss pill, but noted as did a respondant, "Will Smith on 27 Oct 2011 at 5:31 amThis study didn't include the effects of the ghrelin and leptin hormones which are known to play major roles in hunger. " I heard some about the ghrelin but not the leptin hormones. I'm very curious as to these and what affects they have on folks who have the WLS and those who choose not to have the surgury. PJ
