I responded to her with the following:
You certainly are entitled to your opinion, but it would serve you SO much better to do your homework. I am a gastric bypass patient. I did NOT choose the "butchery" way out. I had previously tried MUTLIPLE weight loss methods. You can't even be approved for this surgery until you have proven failed past weight loss attempts in the past. As an overweight person, I was headed to a lifetime of suffering at the hands of diabetes, arthritis etc. The sacrifices I've had to make for this surgery are WELL worth it in the long run. I've lost 145 pounds in less than a year.
And NO, I cannot eat whatever I want. I will be on a healthy program for the rest of my life. The surgery is a tool. It's up to the person to get the weight off...THEN KEEP IT off. I don't throw up and I have had no complications.
As the saying goes, better to be thought a fool, than open your mouth and remove all doubt. You should be ashamed. The article makes you appear the fool.
