A lot of that extra weight is water retention from the binging. Drop the carbs for a couple weeks and that will fall right off, and your cravings will melt away. Then add the carbs v e r y carefully...like one serving /day, and make it a nutrient dense carb food...like a piece of fruit. If you get crazy cravings, stick to sugar free popcicles or sugar free jello.
Hang in there...we are all here with you!

| Keep your focus on protein to start with ~ meat, eggs or egg substitute, a little cheese. A small amount of fat-free refried beans with an ounce of melted cheese on top gives you protein plus some healthy carbs. Protein supplements with a low or no carb content can also help. Don't forget to drink at least 64 ounces of water every day, too! Water has a diuretic effect and can help you lose the water-weight gain. For the first week, if you keep your fats and carbs to about 20 grams per day for each, that will jump-start your loss again. You can keep track of that on sites like FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal, where you can find food values of pretty much anything you eat. You can also customize your foods from the food labels of anything you want.
Good luck with this! I know that monkey (or mackerel) on your back can be tough , but you are tougher! You've come a long way, and you can do this!!!

| Im gonna go out on a limb here and tell you that you cant decarb yourself complety. A very wise physican who is a diabetic Dr told his nurse who was on a diet to lose weight he dont care what even his diabetic patients had to take in atleast 90 carbs a day total. You have to have some sort on a daily basis. You are doing this without WLS. Your doing this on your own and have done a fantastic job at it.
If you totally decarb yourself when you do have some bam the weight comes on fast and hard. Usually around the tummy area. Hes a well known physican in this area and the hardest to get an appoitment with. He also is a my hubbys Thyroid cancer Dr. Endiocrinologist. He does both and has done it for years. Hes been voted one of the top physicans in the country by his peers. In the top ten in the USA. He needs to be cloned. Im not kidding.
Now his nurse didnt like what he told her but he was very serious. I was working with him that day helping out when his other nurse was on vacation so I asked him about me having WLS if I should follow that same rule. He said absolutly. Hes educated in that area to.
I dont push carbs but I dont run from them either. That is my last choice and If i have any room I will allow them daily to a extent. I cant do bread well what so ever after this surgery. We get in other ways.
So that is the reason I say I went out on a limb in saying what I did and probally will have some rebuttle about it but I took his advice and im still losing. Do what is best for yourself honey. And as always Take care of YOU!

| In every journey, there are bound to be potholes, flat tires, and occas running out of gas. Now that you're on the right track, you'll make up for lost time before you know it. For me to decarb usually means de "bad" carb. Cut out the nutrient lax foods like white bread, non healthy cereals, white rice, white pasta; don't overload on potatos, corn, juices, and try to stay away from pre-prepared meals that have starch, etc. Vicki told someone the other day to try lean proteins, fresh (or froz but not prepared) vegies, fruit, low fat dairy then add in a little bit of carbs. That was great advice. Keep in mind, milk and fruits have natural carbs that are good for you. By the way ~ you're doing awesome

| I guess I should have clarified that I meant that a low carb diet in the range of 20-30 grams per day should only be done for a very short time. For me that means a week or so. I agree that eliminating the "bad" carbs is really the issue. At this point in my own journey, my nutritionist has told me to work up to 135 grams of carbs per day but to keep those carbs high quality and no junk food at this point. My focus remains on protein first, then fruits, veggies and whole grains in balance.
