GOOD MORNIN LISSA,
I checked the time you posted. OH MY! At that time, I am just thinkin on going to bed. lol Not really, but close. You have to find something that works for you. If the atkins works, then keep going with that. It wouldn't hurt to ask your new dr. though, about WLS. I like the idea that you are only going to weight yourself once a week. That can get might obsessive. Just remember to set realistic goals. I think that is very important. GOOD LUCK TO YA! I am awaiting your next post. Just remember, if you get the blues about anything at all while going through any of this, don't be afraid to post.

hello,i was at work over the weekend and was talkiong to some friends about wls a few of the poeple who said they knoew someone who had really bad complications with it i was wondering if any of you who have had the surgery have had any .even if they were minor i would like to know about them .one lady said her sister suffered from comp. for over 8 months even had to be on a TPN (i think this is nourshment my iv of some sort . ) we dont get them at the nursing home where i work so i odnt know much about it . im not sure if they are saying this to discourage me from the surgery . i also talked to one of the dr. that comes in and he said he does recomend this but only in extreme cases .he also gave me some great dieting tips i didnt like the fact that he called the atkins diet..." crap" lol because i sware by it since i lost the 85 pounds on it but i think i might be chosing him as a dr for the new year .i didnt get a chance to weigh myself this weekend we were so busy with a bunch of admissions and discharges. and a bunch of room changes as we are getting are building renovated.but any way ill weigh in next weekend. please send me your thoughts and if you had any complications. thanks
lissarose

Yes, we have had members who've had complications. Do a search and check posts by wannabethin, SheilaMae, bren, JLR12679 and jonnyb's wife, to name the names that come immediately to my mind. However, you will find that no matter how hard a time they had then, further out on the journey, they all vote everything was worth it all.
The final decision of what to do is yours. Keep in mind, not to let it be swayed by what others say. It is important to know what may happen, but at the same time, it is important to check out directly what the person has to say, not to listen to some hear-say.
Hang in there, do what YOU think is correct for YOU, not what others think is what you should do.

LISSAROSe....yes its a fact that is a fact for any surgery. THERE is a risk of complications. FOR me finding a qualified trust worthy surgeon eased
my fears ton. TO date my surgeon has not lost a patient from the surgery
and being he taught the other sugeons in my area to do LAP surgery i felt he was skilled and qualified.
I know many people thru my support meetings in my area that have complications and they all dont regret there choice to have surgery
even when they had unexpected troubles.
What your seeing from people is exactly why i kept my choice of surgery very private so that I didnt hear about the people with such i kept my choice and discussions of the surgery very private. I researched and met tons of people with the surgery and knew this is what i had to do to save my life. WITHOUT surgery i was facing death early from either heart attack, stroke or even battling diabetes.
GOOD LUCK in your decision makeing
