Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

i too feel strange in my "new" body, and get frustrated when a pair of pants that i loved just don't fit anymore, what am i going to do without my comfy pair of capris that i did just about everything in??, now they look like pants and very soon i know i'll have to toss them, i'm not down to teens yet, can fit into 22's for the first time in 15 years, but still feel very conspicous in them, how am supposed to feel i wonder, some parts of me love the thought of buying "normal" size clothing to look nice in sweaters, and pants and even dresses but i'm not sure how i'll cope then..lol.

Hi! I found your blog to be very interesting. As you can see I am at the beginning of my journey, so I can't relate to what you are feeling yet. I have been obese all of my life so I don't know what it will feel like to be a healthy, normal weight. But I can say that I can't wait to find out. One thing I do know is that I will still be me, just in a smaller package. I have had a couple of people from work comment on how "I won't be the same person", or "wow, you're gonna go wild when you lose the weight". Ahh, no...I'm sure I will feel differently about some things in my life, but when it comes down to it I will still be me, but a healthier version. After all, that's the reason I decided on WLS...for my health, not cosmetic reasons.
I would like to congratulate you on your success!! That is wonderful. My Mom was considering WLS but her insurance suddenly dropped WLS from their benefits. I hope she can find a program like Weight Watchers or whatever works for her to get healthy.

CountryGirl, you may think you won't change, but it's hard to imagine the feeling of self-confidence that success in this area brings with it. Weight for many of us was the most conspicuous failure in our lives, no matter what we tried. It was (pardon the impending pun) the biggest thing in our minds, constantly in our thoughts and defining the scope of our worlds.

When you finally win, when you banish that extra avoirdupois from your life, you start to feel like you can do anything you set your mind to. And you're right! You will still be you. You will have an empathetic awareness of the problems of those who don't fit in. (That's what we mean by "never forget where we came from".) You will also have a far more positive attitude of success that makes it expected.

Get ready for the thrill ride of your life!! Your train is just leaving the station. Just you wait 'til it picks up some speed!! This is one wild, fantastic journey!! Buckle up and hang on tight!!!

Thanks for your kind replies... glad I'm not the only one. I guess everyone is different. I have been obese all my life and only down at a slimmer weight twice before in my life - anyway, it's quite a journey. I did it for health also - didn't expect my arthritis to be so much better but it is... amazing... (and nice). hugs to all!

That was a wonderful read.
Being *comfortable in your own skin* takes on a totally different aspect.
I remember reading a few posts and threads where other members, after successfully losing a good amount of weight in their pre op days, started feeling uncomfortable for various reasons, and regained and then some. This is one of the reasons I often say, it is as much, if not even more, a mind trip as it is a physical trip. It is clear that this goes for both non ops and ops alike. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Happiness is as happiness does. I love your shy but proud grin you are sporting with that wonderful just-so-exactly-right-fit jeans. Congratulations!!

Doc, thanks for your kind words! Your ongoing support is a big factor in my being able to do this.... love you!!!

Dixie... I appreciate your kind words... but I don't think it's any easier to do things with surgery than without... I think it's finding the tool which works for you - you have done wonderfully with your tool of surgery! I used Weight Watchers - that works for me... whatever the case, it takes a lot of daily work no matter which tool folks use and I really admire someone who is courageous enough to HAVE surgery! Mutual admiration society I guess! *HUGS*
