It all depends on how your body reacts to being active again. i would suggest a plan that includes healthy eating and easy to moderate activity to start out. Build on it everyday.
Don't forget to stretch and drink tons of water.
Good luck
Thor

Yes, it depends. Since you carry excess weight, I'd suggest you tag up with a good trainer who can help you set up a good exercise plan, to prevent any unwanted injuries.

I hit the wall a few nights ago . I fried a slice of pizza. And while I was eating it I said to my self what the heck am I doing . I need to get better. Sicne that day , I have not had any pork , red meat or pop, soda, or soft drinks ( just so everyone would know what I was talking about)

My rule of thumb for anything is start out with something that is manageable. Great to set your goal distance but try walking for 1-2 km for a week. Then run 1/2 km, followed by 1 km walk and 1/2 km run each day for a week increasing the amount of running each week.
Baby steps are the best way to go or you may find yourself becoming discouraged and quit if you try too much too soon and find it difficult, impossible or too much effort.
I bought a dog in December and when I take her for a walk, I find that I am often running half of the time not just because she likes to run but I feel like it. If I set out to do a daily run I would probably quit but increasing that activity each time I go out as part of a different activity (walking the dog) feels great and I feel like I am making a constant improvement to my physical capacity to take on more and more each passing week and month.
Good luck and take things in stride (if you will pardon the pun).

There is a great website for training for a 5k. Google couch potato to 5k and you'll come up with a ton of stuff. It basically tells you what everyone else here has - start slowly so you don't get overwhelmed and quit.

There is also a the couch to 5k iPod podcast that has 9weeks of training. Definitely a great one I love it!
a trainer is a really really good idea if you'd like to get to that point. You really need to get a trainer who can guide you to getting strength FIRST then be able to fast walk, jog, run.

I am doing a Triathlon. I have rocky music playing and I am training hard. If I can do this I will show everyone picture of me over coming.

huh?? that makes no sense to me..especially with personally knowing several triathalon athletes. The 5k is a great goal and a great START.
