Unhappy Needing input...

I've lost 40 lbs so far (a long and strange journey so far, filled with sickness & surgery...but not WLS)

I'm so excited!! I'm trying to maintain, at the barest minimum, but want to lose...still have 100 lbs to go.

So here's where I am. I'm eating...enough that I'm not feeling deprived, no hunger pangs...however...looking at my caloric intake it's hovering between 800 - 900 calories...(I already KNOW that's not good) I'm not at all sure what I should be eating more of. I'm getting lots of veggies, I make sure there's at least 1 meat or other protien item at each meal, I'm eating, I'm sure more carbs than I should, but at 850ish calories a day I don't know what to cut down on and what to eat more of. I've stalled out with my weight loss, and I know my activity level vs. caloric intake is to blame.

I do WiiFit daily (not always for long, sometimes 15 minutes sometimes more depending on how I'm feeling that day, as I'm still healing from my last surgery)

It's getting frustrating watching my weight either stalled...or worse... going UP!

So...any input would be greatly appreciated.

Also...Is there a really GOOD multivitamin that I can take while on my weight loss journey?

So many questions...realizing that I really don't know that much about what I should be doing

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

We have been told to eat protien first then if ur still hungry eat veges then carbs last...also we drink 30 mintues prior and after eating, not during..not sure if that will help you, but its worth a try ! Good Luck !

Right now, the only time I drink while eating is breakfast (I allow myself 1 cup of coffee a day...this is when it happens LOL) other than that, it's usually water about 20 - 30 mins before I eat (8 - 16 oz...depending on how thirsty I am)

Hi and congrats for your weight loss!

At Weight Watchers, they tell us that eating too few calories will greatly slow your weight loss ... you should be having at least 1400 calories a day!

Also 3 servings dairy, 5-7 servings veggies, 1 multi vitamin (I take Centrum), 2 teaspoons healthy oil (can put it in salad etc), 2 at least 3 oz servings of proteins and I think about 2-3 servings of whole grains. Another place where they list healthy guidelines is mypyramid.gov

If you don't eat enough calories and you don't get in the healthy guidelines, you may stall in your weight loss.

But another thing, don't be in a hurry. It's a lifestyle. If it's just a diet, you would be healthier just making better food choices and exercising. It has to be a lifestyle change so the idea is you lose about 1/2-1 lb a week and by the time you lose it, you have new habits. That's the way it worked with me and I've lost 108 lbs now.

Support meetings are cool, you learn lots of techniques of bettering your environment, making good food choices, dealing with emotional eating and more.

Good luck and hang in there - it will happen!

My nut gave me a simple set of rules. Called 5.
No more than 5 gm fat, no more than 5 gm sugar, more than 5 gm protein.
120 - 150 carbs per day. She said I was way too low on them and that was why I am fatigued, have all day headaches and mentally fuzzy. I have to say I already feel better and no headache today!

I agree with Sue, you aren't eating enough. Get your calories up and eat wholesome foods, lean meats (chicken & turkey breasts, fish, pork, steak), multigrain bread. Cut out pasta, rice, potatoes, baked goodies.

So...thanks to the wise folks in here, I read, and listened, and applied what I'd learned!!

My calories are between 1000 - 1100 a day and I've lost 9 lbs since the 13th when I stalled!!

You guys are amazing and FitDay.com has also been a HUGE help!! (I can see the percentages of what I'm easting divided up (protien - carbs - fat - alcohol) Most days I'm taking in about 35 - 40% carbs - 25 - 30% protein and the rest in fat. But I also now know what those percentages are supposed to be hovering around...most days are pretty close, some days are lower calorie days...I find I have to make myself eat more...some days are over...but not often, and I don't beat myself up over those, just vow to do better the next day.

One day at a time

Thank you for the information and for just being the wonderful people you are
