Default My journey on the hCG diet

I gained over 70 lbs in 4 years. The reasons for such a gain are many...I lost both my parents and battled with depression. Adjusting to married life, and have 2 kids back to back all contributing to my weight gain. Funny thing is I didn't notice I was fat until I saw a picture of myself and wanted to crawl in a hole and scream to the top of my lungs. Many of my friends had weight loss surgery. Some breezed through with know complications and some had a few. I was willing to take the chance if I could get a ounce of my life back. Being obese made me VERY self conscience, no self-esteem, and withdrawn. After finding out that my insurance was not going to pay for my GB surgery I ran across the hCG diet. I did not believe the claims of losing up to 2 pounds a day, but decided to try it any way. In 40 days (i cheated some) I've lost 20 lbs and over 21 inches. I can't believe I can do it on my own. I'll start another round in January but I'm so glad I'm making some kind of progress. I just wanted to share my story.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Congrats, 20 lbs in 40 days is excellent! Keep up the good work!

What is the hCG diet, I've heard about it but never took the time to research it.

@Summerbreeze, thank you so much. I love it too!
@LisaH, Thanks...The hCG diet was created in the 1950's by Dr Simeons' his finding can be found in Pounds & Inches. Basically, you follow a specific very low calorie diet along with taking your hCG (I take drops) and you can lose up to a pound a day. Everyday you wake up to a weight loss, EVERYDAY.

You know you sound just like an advertisement for this. I tried this along with many other diets in the past. Yes i lost weight. 500 calories and no salt a day will do that for anyone without the hcg. I got very very sick. This is a great site for weight loss surgery but we do have some people who have had great success without surgery. Good luck to you on this diet but be very very careful.

I'm not an advertisment!!! I'm a living breathing 250 pound person that's just trying to lose the weight with support. I'm not at my goal. I'm no where close to it! I joined this forum because if I don't succeed on this diet weight loss surgery will be my only option left. Just like many times before when I decided to lose weight I research and research and research it just as if I were a student. I keep Pounds and Inches as my "hCG Bible". From my understanding the forum stated that there are others that are trying other weight loss methods although this forum is primarily for weight loss surgery support. I can not advertise anything at the weight I'm at anyway. I'm trying just like the next person. Just because your reaching your goals doesn't mean you can look down on others that haven't. You can gain your weight back just like any other person. If it's so easy to lose weight on any diet then why did you resort to surgery or why are you here. It's not easy by any means or you wouldn't have risked your LIFE!!!!!

Sorry I was not downing you in anyway. We do have some from time to time that are not real just trying to sell something. I did tell you that we have many that have done well without surgery. For me this surgery saved my life. I wish you well and sorry if you took it the wrong way. Stick around you will get support here for what ever way you lose weight. Yes I know I could gain my weight back but why after all I have been through would I do that to myself? I have never looked down on anyone. I didn't say dieting was easy.. i should know I have tried so many of them. I could lose the weight but keeping it off was another story. If this works for you go for it. I really never meant to hurt you feelings.

Research is good. Trying every other option first is good. WLS is a last resort for when everything else has failed. It's about the hardest way I've ever tried, but darned if it isn't also the most effective.

We've had several join us this year who were preparing for WLS and trying to do it non-op at the same time, and some of them have been so successful that they haven't needed the surgery (which is good, because they're no longer eligible - they've lost too much weight!!)

We all take our own path to weight loss. Getting healthy is the main thing. There are plenty of other boards that'll flame you on the "how", but not us. We've all been put down enough that we have no desire to do it to anyone else.

Just curious. Can you tell me why you've set a goal weight that is still in the obese range? In my case, I would have been happy with any weight under 200, but I succeeded beyond my expectations. This your situation too?

Welcome to the family.

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Whatever method you choose, it takes a lot of hard work and and effort patience and perseverace on your part. Make sure you stick to the rules of your method even after you have reached your goal, as that is what will keep you there. Once you go off whatever program, the weight is going to return. You'll need to make the changes permament, not just until you reach your goal. Good luck.
(((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.

I'm sorry Dixieladybug, I feel really bad! I just get so frustrated and tired of going from on diet to another. I think this time I may have it thought but it's not easy.

Thanks to everyone else for your encouragement!
