This a question for the Non-Ops? What has really worked that helped you loose weight?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

sorry im not a non op but i wanted to share i hope you dont mind.

i did atkins about 2 years before i decided to look into wls. in the induction phase, you eat 0 carbs and high protein. it worked very well. i lost 23 lbs but when it came time to add carbs back into my diet that was where i packed the lbs back on. im sure others were successful with this but i am a carb addict and even a little multiplies into A LOT for me. just an idea. i am not sure how you are with breads and sugars and what not. but it DOES work.

well i had to loose weight pre op to get my surgery
so i thought i could share...
i was required to loose 25 lbs before my surgeon would
book surgery.
I used atkins induction to do it. BEING its lo carb
high protein figured it would help me get on track
for the post op way of living.

but of course for me all the methods i alwaysed
tried before always ended up in regains...
i have used every diet out there .USUALLY i lost
alot but always gained it back
so far im 2.5 years post op and not regaining
so lets hope

I am not a non op either, but I must say that doing the liquid diet prior to surgery turned out to be the easiest thing I have done with trying to lose the weight without the surgery. If you would have asked me during the first three days of it though, I would have kicked and screamed over it. LOLOLOLOL

I'm was a non-op once, losing 150 pounds. I did it with hypnosis which is basically relaxation and image (visualization). Getting into a relaxed state, imainging yourself loving exercise, imagining you love to eat only healthy foods, imaging a scale of 1-10 where 5 is the middle and you keep your hunger below 4, never fill up above 6, visualizing yourself at your goal and that you are eating now because that is how you are (which for me, meant I didn't look in a mirror for a year - and speaking of mirrors, learning that mirrors lie), visualizing things like when walking, every step leaves behind a drop of fat and personal affirmations, writing them out 25 times a day, sticking them on my computer screen, bathroom mirror, car rear-view mirror, saying them outloud - learning that your brain hears what you tell it and learning to talk to it differently - like rather than saying I should have a salad (meaning not having one is BAD), saying I WANT to have a salad (even if you don't - because you want your brain to hear you do).

It was very easy and painless and I did well. But like with anything, I stopped eating right and exercising, eventually giving up on it all.

I intend to use hypnosis again (I have the tapes, as well as a several affirmation tapes, etc.) because I found it such a useful tool. I think it will be very effective to use along with the surgery.

Thanks guys for all your great advice. I need to loose weight before my surgery next month. Im kinda freaking out cuz my nutrionist put me on a diet that included more calories than Im use to eating and I gained weight! So I have to something different so I can get what I gained off plus like 10 more so my liver could shrink that what he says he needed me to loose any weight.

I am a Non-Op and have lost 90lbs, the first 70 over 4 1/2 mos. I am following as close to a NO carb diet as is humanly possible. It's like Atkins--but I don't adhere to that. Sometimes I do the meat thing. Sometimes when I want to be mindless, I buy protein powder (which is fat free) at GNC or Vitamin World, either in a 2 or 5lb cannister, and live off that. I keep it really simple with VERY few foods and little choice involved.

I find Carbs give me terrible urges to binge. That's sad because my husband is a baker/chef and makes the most wonderful breads and confections--not to mention soups full of cream and fat... ...which is how I GAINED weight back after losing 90 lbs and getting into a size 7 last time!!! It's just a little... R-i-i-i-i-i-ght!

XOXO
Mya
