Default Fashion anyone??

I thought about putting this in stupid questions but it didn't seem to fit.

I'm losing weight. The tool is working. I've had plateaus and gotten through them. I will have them again. My doctor gave me great praise at my last visit, I'm following the program and doing well. I'm VERY happy about all of this!

But my day started off with a terrible headache. I figured out later that it was because I was dehydrated. I had worked an event the evening before and had not had anything to drink the entire evening and then went to bed. So I woke up with that headache, then I went to my closet and found NOTHING I could wear.

I say this here because I hope someone will understand. I'm happy that I'm losing, but when I say to someone, I'm having trouble finding clothes to wear, their answer is always, "It's a nice problem to have!!"

Well, yes it is. BUT I STILL HAVE TO HAVE SOMETHING TO WEAR TO WORK!
How did you handle the clothing needs? I live in a small town. The local Goodwill offers next to nothing suitable. I hate to spend a lot of money on new clothes that I'm going to be sized right out of in less than a month. I have looked at Ebay, but it offers its own problems. I had grown so accustomed to the fact that I would go up and down in sizes from 16W to 22W. I never got rid of clothes, I was going up and down too much. I'm shrinking out of my only two pair of size 14 pants and all my shirts look like maternity tops.

I wondered if anyone had any fashion tips that could help. How did you adjust with clothes without spending a fortune on the sizes going down. I have an executive position and can't afford to buy suits for each size. I have to look somewhat decent at work. Any fashionistas out there with advice?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I haven't gotten there to much yet I had a friend who had the lap band done and she gave me like 5 pairs of pants and these are still fitting ok, but when they get to big I don't know what I will do, I don't like to spend alot of money on things that wont last so I am intrested in what others will say as well. I do have a Walmart and goodwill close haven't checked out the goodwill yet probably will.

Do you go to a local support group? You could start a clothing exchange there.
Also, if you can sew, take in at the seams for an inch or so on both sides, that should work without the clothes looking out of proportion. More than an inch on both sides (so the total taken in is about 4 inches) can make some clothes look awry.
Then again, it's going to be warmer weather. It might be time to invest in a few low cost key items that you could donate or sell on eBay or whatever later.
Keep in mind, the fact that you (and others) have that problem in common, means that there are plenty of others in the same boat, actually. And with last year's weight loss surgery totalling over 200,000, you know there has to be a surplus somewhere of clothes getting to large, but still not small enough for a permanent investment.

Thank you. The Steve & Barry's idea is great, because I think there is one of those in the closest big city.

I don't sew, but I could probably take in some seams! Thanks for that idea, I don't know why I didn't think of it.

The closest support group is over an hour away, so I don't get there as often as I would like.

Someone else sent me a private message about the wide belts that are in right now and wearing the bigger shirts with the belt. I never wore belts before so I like that idea now. Someone else told me about layering being the in thing right now and how to layer the cheap tank tops with the bigger shirts open and the appropriate jewelry to tie it together.

I'm grateful for people who have the fashion sense to help with this. When I was bigger, I just wore what I could find that fit. Not a lot of fashion stuff out there for really fat people. Now that I'm getting smaller, I don't even know what my style is.

Yes, shopping is fun, but knowing what to shop for and how to wisely spend my money is where I need the most help.

Thanks everyone.

I was blessed with having a circle of friends doing various weightloss methods and they have kept me going thru to my current size 14's. For work I have purchased basic, reasonable inexpensive items (black pants, for example) so that I have a few things that fit well and just sort of fake the accesorizing. I have also bought inexpensive jeans along the way as they are a mainstay for me.
