Default pondering!!

there has been alot of talk on here lately of ppl having a hard time with eating and such..i know lately i have had major battles with this..i think back to easrly out and i am not sure i really greived the loss of food, i mean at times i did miss it but nothing really major, now at just about 9 months out i seem to be in that stage of greiving food, is it possible that it takes some of us longer to go thru this stage..i have my off days and have really good days but even on the good days it can be a struggle within my mind to stick to it, i hope this will get a little easier so it dosnt consume my mind, i just want more than anything to feel normal?? if that is possible...lol

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I still mourn losing some foods....but the fact that I'm healthier and better off in the long run seems to out-weigh the food I miss...I think we all have different stages at different times on this journey!

I'm not sure that it counts with me not being out long but I miss food terribly. If I let myself I could think about food all the time. Kinda like when I quit smoking. I try and do something different to get my mind off of it, after a few mins. it passes. But.... right now foods I wouldn't even eat are sounding good. lol. I don't know who ever said this was an easy way out for people to lose weight but boy were they mistaken.

qt, I think it's very normal. I think we all go through stages at different times. You have done a great job though. Stay focused and remember that our health and happiness far outweigh the need for any foods that aren't good for us.

The hardest thing for me is that I mourn foods that when I taste now, they don't taste good. I LOVED mac and cheese, and now I take a bite and it just tastes like a goopy pasta mess. I miss the TASTE more than the food. But, that's just me. Also, sometimes I miss stuffing my face- I know that sounds weird, but it was comforting to sit down and eat too much since it all seemed to taste so good. Physically and mentally I would feel like crap though- so I don't miss that. I think we all mourn something at some point during this journey- if we didn't have some food issues we probably wouldn't have been morbidly obese. I know you will be able to work through it- Remember you are going through a LOT right now with your hubby and what not, and you are being very strong....I think I would have broken by now!

Dawn...... i do more now than ever. I think its because I can eat it or try it but.... cant have but just a bit of it and most of the time it dont taste good anymore. Dont laugh ok but.....watching the Food Network really helped me alot when I mourn food. You would think that makes it worse but for me it dont.

As for food tasting different....... I think we are tasting now what it really taste like opposed to not tasting like its supposed to.

I definitely mourn food. I'm going to Buffalo next weekend and all the familiar tastes of home - relatives cooking and favorite restaurants - and I wonder how the trip will go. I guess it's all part of it, but not a fun part.

things have gotten better with how i eat, i guess i just miss feeling normal, it is kinda hard to explain..like today i went shopping and i ate a southbeach diet meal for lunch in my van then went into pizzahut to meet my brother and watched him eat some real good looking pizza and those hot cinnamin things from there...yum!! and i dont know if it was so much that i missed the food, i missed being able to sit there and eat with him like always...who knows, just trying to figure out my thoughts!!

you know what? this is such a good thread! i have to add my two cents of course. i think for me i mourn the IDEA of it. i get bummed out that after a few bites im full. i miss sitting and eating 1/2 pizza; sad i know, so much that a bite wheni am craving it makes me sad - sometimes frustrated. i dunno how to deal with this. it comes and goes, but when it comes man am i bummed out! hang in there.

I totally agree! I dont think it is me missing the food, it is more of me enjoying the time with someone! Like eating a bowl of ice cream with my husband on a Saturday evening! So I have started making a small bowl of fresh fruit and cheese for evenings like that. And is has that same nastalgic effect for me.
Also, it is hard when you are not done tasting the taste, but you are done eating. i dont know if that will ever go away.
