Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass    |  Glad yesterday, Sad today I posted yesterday about my excellent 2 year lab results. Last night I went to my support meeting and felt great when I came home. At 3 AM, my wife wakes me up, and my granddaughter has run away !! We've raised her since she was 5 weeks old, and spent part of yesterday taking her to the doctor for some "head issues". I noted my phone was missing on the way to my support meeting. I came home, used the house phone and found my cell ringing in a drawer next to my chair. I hadn't put it there. I looked at numbers dialed, and my granddaughter had dialed a girl she used to hang around with months ago. I called that number at 3:30 am this morning, and the girls mom said my granddaughter had called there yesterday to ask if she could stay there. That was at 11:40 AM yesterday, right after I dropped her off at school. My granddaughter must have taken my cell when I wasn't looking, as it normally rests on my car's visor in it's holder. Common sense to me would have been that this other girls moms would have called here to give a "heads up" but no, another parent who evidently doesn't care. Police here at 4:30, my older son driving around the neighborhood looking for my granddaughter, and needless to say, I couldn't sleep any longer. BAD start on a new day. My granddaughter supposedly spent the weekend at her school friends aunts home, as they were supposedly going to an amusement park, Magic Mountain. But that was a lie too, so I don't really know where she is, where she actually was over the weekend. I assumed that maybe she had been to her old boyfriend's home, but a call to him at 4 AM, assured me he was home and she wasn't there. She's going to be 17 on Saturday, and it's a sad day in my household. DAVE

Kathy, I am so proud of parents who do what you did, which is the right thing. Both my kids know their future on their 18th bdays, after HS....work/full time school, or out the door. Now for DH and I to have the hutzpah to follow through. There but for the grace of God goes anyone, in my opinion. We can only guide them in their flights...it is up to them to flap those wings and point them in the positive direction. I don't see my 17 year old son doing these things, but my 11 year old daughter...well, I can read the writing on that wall!
