| Update: Friends family and Arthritis
Before I go to talking about myself here, this week has been a hard week for alot of members here on our board. They are suffering from news about themselfs and there families. I know somtimes I get so caught up in myself and my life i really dont stop to think about others. This week I have had to stop and think about these people and truly pray.
I thank the LORD that I have found this place to come and be me and think about things and learn daily. Each one of you all do have a special place in my heart. I needed to reaffirm that.
I went to see a pain management Dr yesterday about my Arthritis. Why? Because the medicines they have for arthritis suffers cant be tolerated by gastric bypass patients. It was a good move I will say.
He placed me on Duragesic generic name Fentanyl. This is a patch. The patch is amazing itself. Its very small. Smaller than the smallest bandaid and completly clear. It releases meds every hour. The patch is placed on once every three days and left. I have been placed on the lowest dose and he will increase it as needed if necessary. I got immediate relief.
Pain Management Drs treat a variety of things. I will say I was a bit ovewhemled as soon as I went back and was told Ok this is how it is.. I have to take a drug test on you RIGHT NOW! Tell me every type of pain med you have taken in the last month along with any illegal drugs. Of course I did and was fine. It was the way its stated and i KNEW THE NURSE for goodness sakes and she said she had to state it just like she did because there are so many drug seekers that come see them.
Well I will say when the Dr come in I was like hello im Vickie and let me tell you about me and why im here. He said sure. So I went on with the story of mine about WLS and why i couldnt take the meds and why my surgeon placed me on Loratab and my current pain so he didnt think I was trying to seek drugs for habit. ( YES IT SCARED ME).
He laughed at me and said ok....listen I have treated MANY WLS patients after surgery and I know why your here. Yes we have to scare you at first and you wouldnt belive how many will leave from the time the nurse leaves you in the room until the Dr comes in. Whew...... LOL. Its dramatic for sure. He will be getting all my Xrays and scans of my joints I have had within the last year. He will be taking over my Synvisc injections im supposed to have on my knee every so often to replace the joint fluid.
For any of you that cannot take Arthritis meds now ask your PCP to refer you to a pain management Dr. They do have strict rules but I can understand why. ( You have to bring you meds with you on each visit and they will do a pill or patch count). When I was taking the liquid Loratab it didnt work but for a couple of hours and the dose was for every 6. The pill only lasted about 4 hours if that and turned the tummy crazy with alot of acid etc. So far so good with me on the new meds.
Ok this is getting long so the last thing ...... I did interview with a Pain Management Dr last week...... NOT THE SAME GUY OR PLACE. I was told I would here somthing this week. Still nothing as of yet. However I do have another interview on Monday with a different clinic with a variety of job openings in different fields.
Ok I have written a book and its time for me to be quiet now LOL!

My sister has reactive arthritis in her tendons and fibromyalgia. She is a mess. She is on some kind of low dose chemo drug for the arthritis. I wonder if this pain patch would help her. I will have to mention it to her, but she probably already knows about it. She is somewhat of a know it all. I tell her something, she already knows it. Then I talk to her later and she is doing what I told her and thinks it's her own idea. Oh well gotta love them their family right?
Let us know how it works out for you Ms. Vickie! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.
