I have been very open with my co-workers about having this surgery & it has been my choice. This woman that we hired a year ago, has been through this about 6 years ago. When she found out I was doing this...she has been OVER the top about everything. She is the only person in 12 years that I would have not let go through TRIAL service. as far as work. The other day when I was going to go to my first support group locally, she told me that....she has not been in a long time and since I will be going, she needs to go. I do not want to share anything with her. I really want to go to the support group but I do not feel comphy with everyone. I do not want to discourage people at all. I guess I will go to another shrink, but I wish I could meet others that could relate...but I don't want to work with them.

Hmmmm, I dont know what to say about this one. You shouldnt feel pressured to do anything you dont want to do though. Just be honest with her and explain that you are not comfortable with it and thank her. My husbands favorite line on something like this would be: "I will have to say thank you BUT no."

Choices, choices, As kim says this is a new one... the only thing I can Add is to choices you can do this on your own as many have done this (keep it a secret) or Team up with someone. I guess I can not tell you what to do it is your choice how you want to handle this matter. I believe the circumstances will tell you which way to go. Good luck

It's your choice, and if you don't feel comfortable with having someone from work with you (which I think is quite a normal reaction, there are boundaries) then, I think honesty is the best policy, "thank you, but no thank you." As you go further along this journey, there will be many occasions where you will need to draw the boundaries. In fact, you must draw these boundaries for a both mentally and phsically healthy weight loss journey. If your co-worker truly feels that she should go to support meetings, too, which in itself is a good thing, then just an idea, but one thing you could do for her, is to find out the schedules of other support meetings if there are any, and give her the schedules for the meetings you don't plan to go to. (((((HUGS)))) May your journey go well.

I would tell her as gently as possible.....I kinda have the opposite situation... my step sister had lap band last year before my RNY....I'm not allowed to talk about my weight with her....according to my Stepmonster, it makes her daughter feel bad.....WTF??? (Her lap band failed and she cheated all the time and only lost about 53 pounds...and has gained most of that back....coupled with the fact she still throws UP all the time) |
