Red face Dreading my checkup on Thursday

I have my checkup on Thursday and I know I am in trouble. I haven't been taking my vitamins or working out like I should. My doc isn't going to be happy with me. He is told me last time that I needed to get regular with my vitamins.
I don't know how to explain it except to say I just forget to take my vitamins. I have tried different tricks to remember and they haven't worked. I know that my bloodwork will not be good. I have felt totally exhausted for the past few weeks.
The good thing is I am still losing very slowly. I only need to lose 10 more pounds to be at his goal for me. The last time we talked he told me I needed to tone up my tummy muscles so I would be ready for my TT when I finished losing my weight.
I am such a procrastinator...I need to be held accountable. DH just isn't the one to do it. He will just irritate me.
When I get up in the morning it is a new day...I will try to remember to take those vitamins.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Please, please keep up with your vitamins, some damages from deficiencies become irreversible if you neglect them, and your life is too precious to let that happen. Keep a stash in several places, wear a pill holder around your neck, whatever. You need to become religious about this.
(((((HUGS)))) Good luck with your follow up visit.

I totally agree with Doc. One of the things that was stressed in my preop was the things that COULD happen post op without certain vitamins...hearing that someone was now wheelchair bound from not taking the vitamins MAKES me remember to take them daily. We actually had to sign a "contract" stating that we would take our vitamins DAILY! I keep my pills in a pill box at my desk and a baggy in my purse for when I dont get them all in before I leave the house.

I used to have trouble when I first started taking meds daily doing the same as yourself. What I did was this....

Place them in your cabniet where you would get a glass first thing in the am for somthing to drink. You will see them and take them.

Place them on your bedside table so as your getting ready for bed you will see them and take them.

I take it you dont have to take any other meds? If you do get a pill box and place them in it on a weekly basis and place in in the above mentioned places to remind yourself. These all worked for me.

I have two weekly pill boxes. I put my morning pills in one and in the other pill box I put in my evening pills. I have both my pill boxes right by the table where we eat and then I take my pills as needed and right there on the table to remind me.

I keep mine in the medicine cabinet so when I brush my teeth in the morning and evening they are right there. Honestly it is just a habit now. They say do something 21 days in a row and it becomes a habit. Maybe put a checklist where you will see it and then you will know at a glance you haven't taken the vitamins.

I work from home so I have them on the counter, after every meal I take one,
Breakfast - calcium,
Lunch - calcium,
snack - B12,
Dinner - multi

It's automatic now, but in order to become automatic I think you have to have a set routine first, then keep at it, like Jeanne said, 21 days makes/breaks a habit. So try to think...what would be your best shot at making it work...medicine cabinet, pill box, they sell alarm pill boxes on line...what would be your best approach? Then go from there.

Good luck!

I keep pills in every nook and cranny in my house and work. I can't NOT see a bottle or baggy with sups of some sort staring at me. I keep a variety and take what I need.

I hate to scare you but I know of people who have permanently damaged themselves by not taking their supplements. Damaged, as in they may eventually DIE from the deficiencies and it is NOT REVERSIBLE by taking more sups now. That thought scares me "straight". I had this surgery so I wouldn't die, for heaven's sake.

At my preop "signing ceremony", along with all the other forms, I signed a waiver that, if I did not take the sups, I would not hold surgeon responsible for any illness from nutritional deficiencies from not taking sups.

My two cents...your mileage may vary.
