Default Officially One month

Today is my official one month since surgery. Total weight loss for the month was 27 lbs. I am slowly introducing new foods into my diet but have to admit I still feel sick a lot. I really want that part to be over with. I had a couple meals where I thoroughly enjoyed them but then worried that I enjoyed them so much I would go back to my regular eating habits. What's up with that?

Monday night is my first support group and I am hoping it will help me with my see saw emotions I keep going through. I'm thinking seeing a therapist too as I don't seem to be as happy as I should be over this process. And boy am I moody! Went back to my first fulltime work week this last week and even my boss said I was 'cranky'. Not good news when you work in customer service.

Are these all normal? Shouldn't I be more excited? I'm normally a fairly happy person. I'm hoping these feelings will soon pass since I made this move to surgery for a happier better life.

My goal this coming month is to get out of this emotional fog and get back into smiling. I want the changes in my body to be exciting things and I want to get out and LIVE!!!!!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Bren, your ups and downs are quite normal.
Go looking at everybody's posts when they were pretty early out, there is not a one who doesn't complain of mood swings.
For some, it gets serious enough to need professional help, while others are able to ride it out with support from peers and their support group.
You will be able to find yourself on a happier plane further out, but it seems the first few months are the most difficult.
Don't fret, just hang in there, and enjoy the ride you are on, ((((((((HUGS)))))))

Awww BREN!
THE EMOTIONAL stuff is normal.
We all experience it. AND yes you think
with our great weigtlosses we would be floating
on cloud nine but it doesnt happen that way for
some. I know for me i had bad mood swings a
and depression.

I did some therapy too with a weight loss management counclor
who also had gastric bypass surgery so it helps during these
times.

HANG in there and congratulations on your first months weight loss

Wink Bren...

....this is sooo normal! I remember this in my life...and that was just about 70# ago...and 4mos! You are in a stage, that is hard and confusing. YOU are the same person you were before surgery -MENTALLY!! Now, this first 6mos. is such a great time for your surgery...to deal with your physical. While you deal with your emotional state.
ALSO KNOW.......although 4 weeks out you are physically feeling better...you are STILL healing on the inside. It takes about 3mos. for your "inside" healing to be better...so, while you are healing on the inside...it takes time - I don't know if there is any corrolation between the eating and the healing...but, I'll tell you - I started seeing a HUGE difference in my eating around month 3! I know it takes a while to learn - not to eat too fast, too much, or certain foods.

JUST REMEMBER....
For every decision, there is a 'test'...so don’t dread the test...anticipate the test.
Then you make it your business to pass the test. Life is made up of "ups and downs" - so when life knocks you down, get up & get over it...get under it, get around it - do whatever you’ve got to do to get thru it. Because you are divinely assigned and equipped for the task before you!
You are a plane on a mission - not a feather in the wind - for every decision there is a test - pass the test. Life will knock you up and down and all around - get up & get over it...get under it, get around it - you are divinely assigned and equipped for the task before you.
We never know when our testimony might be somebody elses "lifesaver"... so we have to bloom wherever we find ourselves planted.
I stand before you not because I’m anyone special... but b/c today I 'get to' be an example that "dreams do come true."
You’ve got to talk the talk & walk the walk - You've got to dream big - dream bigger than you can see - bigger than you can touch. We have a whole world to impact - but the news is....you are divinely assigned and equipped for the task before you!!

Hey you are doing great!!
It sounds like you are right on target to where I was at the same point PO. I know everybody says that it gets better but really, it does. Just take advantage of not feeling hungry. Keep gettting all your protein, vits., and calcium. Pretty soon you will be amazed and awed with how well you feel and the clothes that you can fit into. I am still on (maybe in) a cloud over the whole thing. I'm almost 4 mos. and am down 69#.

I thank you all so much for sharing your input. It does help to know that these moods will pass and I appreciate you all being willing to express your experiences.
