Default Having a hard time

Hi everyone,
I have hit a rough spot in my so far pretty much uneventful journey. I've been under a lots of stress and have been feeling it were it hurts the most, in my stomach. I am having a hard time eating without wanting to or actually . The only thing that I can tolerate is sugar free popsicles and water. I'm not getting my protein at all. One of the biggest reasons for this is my Grandmother has been very ill and I got a call late last night that she passed away.
Before this it felt almost like the flu or something. Anyway what i'm wondering is how long can I go with out protein before I get in trouble. I was going to call my surgeon if I dont' get better this weekend.
I hit my one month post surgery yesterday. Any suggestions on how I can get my "pouch" to accept food again?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Bren,

I am very sorry to hear about your grandma passing away. I am praying for her, you, and your whole family.

I know it is hard for you, but try to eat something. Could you try yogurt? That is easy to eat, and has protein. How about a shake?

Keep us updated, and, like you said........contact your surgeon if you are not feeling well and still cannot eat.

So sorry to here about your grandmas passing. Had she been sick for a long time? My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May you find peace and comfort in knowing that she is now resting comfortably in the arms of God.
I hope that you start feeling better soon and that you call your Dr. if you don't. Do you like cottage cheese or ricotta? I know our bodies can't store protein and that we need to eat it everyday. It is key in the healing process.

Hi bren, (((((((HUGS))))))))
It is very hard to lose a loved family member. I hope you have very many happy memories of your grandmother, for it is you and your family, and those memories that keep your grandmother "alive." I am sure, even though she is not with you any more physically, she is always looking out for you, and very much alive in your heart and Heaven.

As for protein, we basically can't do without them since our body needs to get from food source the essential amino acids which our body can't make, so you really need them every day.
Please consult your surgeon on what the best way is for you.

Thank you so much for your support. My grandma had been sick for awhile. The one thing that brings me comfort is knowing that when I went to visit her last weekend it was the last day she was able to talk to people before slipping futher away. I drove a 8 hour round trip to see her for 15mins and it was so worth it. I will be leaving for a few days tomorrow to attend the funeral and hopefully by then my tummy problems will be over. I did hold some mashed potatos down yesterday not the healtiest of choices but a start.

I am very sorry for your loss.

Have you ever tried the stallone puddings from GNC. That was the only protein i could tolerate immediatly post op. 20gms in each can, i did a little of the can at a time, not the whole thing.

Hope you are feeling better.hang in there.

I know how stress can upset your tummy and having been going through alot of stress myself this past summer i have noticed that when I am upset my pouch feels nauseated and often feels very funny. once I calm down it goes away but I cannot ignore the funny feeling I get.
You really should notify your surgeon to rule out any troubles down there, if nothing else to ease your mind.
Some yogurts are easy going down if you like that sort of thing. I take lower fat cheese sticks with me every where.
So sorry too about your Grandmother. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Take care and please let us know how you are doing.
