Default I need reassurance!

HEY PEOPLE, I JUST HAVE A QUESTION FOR EVERYONE. SHOULD I BE WORRIED I AM EATING TO MUCH AT THIS POINT AFTER SURGERY? I AM 3 MONTHS OUT AND AM ALREADY EATING DARN NEAR A CUP OF FOOD AT A MEAL, EXCEPT WHEN I HAVE MEAT. THAT IS MORE LIKE BETWEEN A THIRD OF A CUP AND HALF CUP. I AM NOT ANY MORE HUNGRY WHEN MEALTIME COMES, BUT IT JUST SEEMS LIKE I AM EATING ALOT. EVERYTHING IS NORMAL WITH ME AS FAR AS MY EATING HABITS GO. I DON'T SNACK AT ALL BETWEEN MEALS. I FEEL FULL UP UNTIL MEALTIME. IT JUST SEEMS A LITTLE EARLY FOR ME TO BE EATING A CUP OF FOOD AT MEALTIMES. MAYBE I AM WRONG AND THAT IS WHY I HAVE TURNED TO YOU GOOD PEOPLE TO LET ME KNOW. I AWAIT ANY RESPONSES I CAN GET LOL. mike

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Well, there's a big difference between a cup of cooked spinach and a cup of lasagna. Personally, I wouldn't look at qty. That's going to be dynamic from here on out anyway.

Default guess you are right skinnydip

thanks skinnydip,
I guess you are right with the comparison thing. Well, for example, for lunch I had some stew, yes, darn near a cup. I always eat a bigger meal, as I call it, before I go to work. I figure that wasn't too bad considering I had especially my protein and veggies in there. Now I will stay full til around five thirty or so. I guess I should not worry so much about this sorta stuff, but I do. I should be looking more at the fact that I am still walking my 4 mile walks, and not snacking on junk in between. JUST A LITTLE PARNOID THING GOING ON WITH ME LATELY LOL. Thanks though for the input.

Hi Mike, I'm 3 months out today. Like you, I couldn't eat a cup of dense protein, but I might be able to eat 3/4 cup of lighter weight foods. I just got a small Wendy's chili and was full after eating 1/2 of it. So, I think you are doing just fine.

Mike I too am worried that I'm eating too much. After not being able to eat so long with the stricture now I'm scared its going the other way. I think its normal to feel the way we are feeling. Sometimes it seems like I can eat only a couple of bites and other times I feel like I could eat and not stop. ( I make myself of course..lol)

WOWEEE! WE ARE VERY CLOSE WITH POST-OP. I HAD MINE ON AUGUST 1ST. NOT FAR APART AT ALL. HOW WERE YOU FEELING 3 MONTHS AGO TODAY? LOL JUST KIDDING. THAT PART ISN'T FUN. I HAD OPEN INCISION DONE. TAKE CARE AND THANKS AGAIN

Default that is true bren!

HELLO BREN,
THAT IS TRUE WITH THE EATING THING. I GET THAT WAY LOTS. SOME DAYS IT FEELS LIKE I ONLY CAN EAT A FEW BITES AS WELL. I DO BECAUSE I GET SCARED OF THINGS THAT COULD HAPPEN. OTHER DAYS, WELL, THEN THEIR ARE JUST OTHER DAYS WHERE I COULD EAT AND EAT AND EAT LOL. I DON'T EITHER. NOT SO MUCH IN BETWEEN THE MEALS, BUT WHEN IT COMES TO MEALTIME. GOD, I LOVE THIS SITE. IT'S LIKE A BIG OLD SUPPORT GROUP. MANY PEOPLE ARE GOING THROUGH THE SAME THING AS I AM. I LOVE IT. THE CHILI THING WANNABETHIN WAS TALKING ABOUT SURE SOUNDS GOOD LOL. I HAVEN'T BEEN DARING ENOUGH TO TRY THAT KIND OF STUFF YET. KFC IS AS FAR AS I HAVE GOTTEN. LOL IN TIME THOUGH, IN TIME. THANKS FOR THE REPLY

Mike, you are being completely normal. I believe that many of us at your stage were worried because we were able to eat much more than first out. Just remember, you are doing great. When you compare your food, think of it after it has been chewed up. How much does it really add up to? Not much if you think about it. Meat is more dense therefore, you will be able to eat less of it.

You are doing great! Don't stress.

Hugs,

Red face I Love This Site!!!

It's amazing how this site works!!
WE all go thru the same things...and deal with similar issues...and when you open up...and share what's on your heart/mind...then you get the support you need!

Mike...thanks for sharing about your concern for the 'amount' of food you are eating. I've been "freakin out" over this very thing for the last couple of months! I'm only 6 mos. post op...but have noticed for the last 2mos. that I've been able to eat more!! I keep thinking....my tummy - new pouch - WAS the size of my thumb....what has happened?!?! Have I stretched it out already?!

That FREAKS ME OUT!!! And concerns me for the future...and the last 75# I have to loose! Anyway....I agree with the difference b/tween a dense food...and foods like veggies....I see the diffence - and that makes me feel tons better!!!

Ooooh, another thing - I've been "feeling" hungry ALL DAY....I think it's b/c the wonderful smell of a roast...potatoes, carrots, onions has filled the house since I woke up this morning. I started cooking the roast around 11am....and have been dieing for it all day....I just fed Isabella...and had to take a few bites - wow, it's wonderful!!! I want to wait for Russ to get home....b/c I love eating with him...but, wow....I can't tell if this is head hunger of real hunger....
I think it's head - b/c the smell has been amazing in my house all day!! I did eat a good lunch (chicken salad)....so it's not like I haven't eaten....so, unfortunately I battle with head hunger A LOT!!! Esp. on days when the groceries arrive!

Default what a relief! lol

HEY XSMITH,
THANK GOD. LOL I THOUGHT I WAS EATING WAAAAAAAAAY TO MUCH SO EARLY. I GUESS, THOUGH, FROM ALL THE REPLIES SO FAR, IT'S JUST ME. SHOCKER I GUESS IT'S JUST THE FACT THAT I NEVER WANT TO GO BACK TO THE OLD ME. LIKE EVERYONE ON HERE. I WOULD RATHER POST A QUESTION ON HERE AND GET WHAT I NEED TO HEAR, RATHER THAN WONDER ALL THE TIME. THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE MATTER. LOL I DO APPRECIATE IT.
