 |  Can Low Iron Cause This (In a Post-Op)?
If you have Low Iron, its possible to also have Low PLATELETS???? I had the surgery in Feb. 2009 and haven't been able to take Iron supplements since....and my blood work from this past week came back, Low Iron and Low Platelets.

All blood cells are made in your bone marrow. Not to scare you, but low iron in your case, may be an indication that there might be something there. Best to ask your surgeon for what they think.

I have low platets too, last check they were 76,000 and normal is 150,000 - 400,000 When I had my knee replacement, I had an infusion that pushed them up high enough and I safely had the surgery. This condition is why my surgeon will only do a sleeve on me as it will be easier to get a scope in if I were to have a bleed. Doesn't matter to me, the sleeve was what I wanted anyway so we are good.
Good luck with the hemo appt. let us know how it goes.
