Ok, I had my WLS a little over 4 months ago. I have went from a size 22 to a 12. I still, for the most part, feel the same. Yes, I feel better physically. Yes, I can tell I have lost weight when I look at pics. But, I still feel fat. I still see myself as fat. How long does the brain take to catch up? Even when I look at pictures, I ask myself, "How in the hell are you fitting into a size 12 when you are still so big?" I seriously feel like someone has played a trick on me and put size 12 on all the jeans when they are really 16.
I know some other people have felt this way too. How long did it take to get past this?
Here are before and afters.

Well alot or everyone has delt with this. Honestly until I walked up to a door without thinking and seen a reflection of my self in that door and seen HELL that is me? Then it broke. Got a old set of clothes still left you were wearing when you had surgery....... try them on...... it will do it. Take care and enjoy this honey. Your the same at heart but your body is smaller let your self be that smaller person.

It took me almost 2 years to finally be able to look at clothes and say "That's my size" or "That's too big". I do a lot of shopping at Goodwill and they used to clump all the sizes together and I would constantly pull out the size 12s when I'm in a size 4. My mind couldn't see it until just recently. So now I can at least pick out my size, but I still don't totally get how small I am.
I'm still not seeing it when I look in the mirror or at a picture. I see that I'm smaller, but not that much! I've tried putting on my old clothes (size 24 jeans and 2XL shirt) and it still doesn't sink in. I notice that I can squeeze behind someone's chair without having them scoot in, and I know how small the space is and I know I can get through it, but I don't feel it. I don't know how to explain it.
I can look in the mirror and see all the bones and muscle definition and still think I'm fat. Boy do I understand anorexia now, good thing I like food. LOL

I think most of us are like that, we just do not see what other people see. My family always said I look wonderful but I knew I lost alot of weight and looked much better than before but just did not see myself like my family and friends saw me. My turning point was the tummy tuck. I was so focused on my big stomach and how I hated it and I just felt so big with that big tummy. Now that i have had the tummy tuck I see myself much thinner and it has realy caught up with me now. When I look in the mirror, I see a much thinner lady in the mirror now. I never dreamed that i would ever get into a size 14 slacks, that is so huge for me for where I was before gastric bypass. If I have to sit at 205 pounds, that is fine, becasue it is a far cry from 373 when I started my journey and my heaviest was 384 a year before my journey. The way I look now is a dream come true.

I forgot to mention that you are very beautiful lady and a huge difference in the before and after pictures. You have a handsome son. You have done a great job with your weight loss and enjoy the smaller size.

I went to the thrift store because I needed pants that fit and just couldn't seem to drag myself out of the plus sizes.....nothing else looked BIG enough to fit my butt.
...but when I tried pants on, I ended up with a 12. In my mind, my butt is still a 20+
I still avoid cameras....DH asked me if we were gonna take a Christmas photo this year and I said NO as ususal.
Not sure when my mind will realize the body is smaller. I still look/feel fat in my mind as well.
