Default Greatest thing since sliced bread... (rant)

Ok, so here it is.

I have been reading soooo many threads lately about self-image and your eyes playing tricks in the mirror and so forth and so on, and people being down on themselves. and it makes me sad and angry all at the same time and heres why.

Fat or skinny, ( i am sort of fat, yeah i'll admit it ) you are the same person you were before, there is just less of you physically, and the person before this journey began was and still is "the greatest thing since sliced bread". and that is the attitude you need to have now.

On a personal note, i have struggled with self-image in one form or another, from pimples to facial hair, flat butt, so forth and so on, but the best thing about life is, YOU can change your own self-image and display to the world how awesome you are. "greatest thing since sliced bread" attitude.

Lastly, STOP, and i mean STOP comparing yourself to other people, you are not nor should you dare compare yourself to someone else, because you are not them hell in most cases you are better. (act like it). . This is a process, it's all a process. and even though some folks here feel as though they haven't done enough losing weight (regardless of the amount) and getting healthy is a good thing. Look at it this way as my grandmother use to say " i may not be what i want to be, but i am NOT what i use to be". Take this time to rejoice in your accomplishments and relish in the compliments and smiles and phone #'s you get at the mall as you shop for smaller clothes.

Love yourself as though you are the greatest thing since sliced bread

"it's all a process"

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

LOL @ Karlos...you don't have to like sliced bread to be the greatest thing since sliced bread

Ebonidoll your a very confident person, that is a good thing.
Yes, we should all be more confident in ourselves. I do agree we need to look at what we have done and not dwell on the negative. It takes some longer then others to see the good after being beat down for X amount of years.
YES, comparing ourselves to others is waste....WE are all unique in our own way and do, say, act, lose weight, dress etc differently. That is what is so GREAT about being ME!!!! It is a process that takes time. I have seen attitude changes in people here, but it is a process that happens in its own time for each of us.

BE happy, don't sweat the small stuff.....
is one of the many mottos I have posted on my cube wall.....

When people can see the good in them selves and not dwell on the flaws (bad) they will be much happier.
So how do we get them to do that????

a shoulder to lean on
a hug

I totally agree with what you are saying, it's just hard to practice. I've been teased since I was 6 and my self esteem isn't what it should be - but I know through this process it'll get there.

Thanks!

Very well said. I have thought of the same thing so many times and wanted to say the same thing over and over again. You are right.

One thing however I do have to remember is this....... it does all come in stages. Different stages though this whole thing. To make the decision to do it to doing it to thinking why did i do it , being glad you did it then acutally having to follow though with it and keeping it up.

Somthing in our lifes somewhere happened and I am a true beliver in that still to this day made us like we are and sent us to this. Meaning this is the way we delt with what ever it was. Eating the way we did. And now we dont have that route we have to deal with it in other ways the emotions are still there and if nothing else we express them more than ever. I think that is what we see more if nothing else.

So yes honey your totally right. But I think this is the reason you see it like you do.
Its good to see you Eboni!
