Default Sharing Your Experience - March 24, 2006

Thought for the Day
Strength comes from honestly telling your own experiences with eating pre and post-op. In religion, they call it confession. We call it witnessing or sharing. You give a personal witness, you share your past experiences, the troubles you felt, the diets, the pills, the arguments in your home, the money wasted, the "all you can eat" binges, and all the foolish things you did when you were eating out of control. This personal witness lets out the things you had kept hidden, brings them out into the open, and you find release and strength. Am I receiving strength from my personal witnessing?

Meditation for the Day
We cannot fully understand the universe. The simple fact is that we cannot even define space or time. They are both boundless, in spite of all we can do to limit them. We live in a box of space and time, which we have manufactured by our own minds and on that depends all our so called knowledge of the universe. The simple fact is that we can never know all things, nor are we made to know them. Much of our lives must be taken on faith.

Prayer for the Day
I pray that my faith may be based on my own experience of the power of God in my life. I pray that I may know this one thing above all else.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Well, in order to promote honesty Craig, I am witnessing, or sharing the fact that in one last(hopefully) moment of indulgence I just downed 10 oreos with a cup of milk since tomorrow is my nutrition class and upper endoscopy. I am not allowed any food past midnight and no liquids past 10am tomorrow untill my test is done tomorrow afternoon. I am just grateful that this test is going down me instead of up. I overheard some of the not so fortunate patients receiving their pre-test instructions and mine are a lot easier to deal with....lol. Does this count as what you were talking about?

Janae, thank you for chiming in. Self honesty can be one of our great challenges. Was I really ever that "big boned" hehe, Know what I mean. It is important to share our experience strenth and hope with others, while at the same time not recklessly dumping our deepest darkest thoughts and life into the streets of the public square.

You are doing awesome. I highly encourage you to journal as you travel this incredible journey. Sometime, just honestly dumping things on to pen and paper can give us a real balance over what are just the facts of our life.

Keep up the great work.

Well, I just ate a bite of yellow cake with chocolate icing. I don't usually do this as sugar makes me dump super bad. But I found I was craving just a taste of chocolate, so I indulged myself. But I am so afraid of dumping that I won't take more than one bite.

There was a time not quite a year ago that I would have eaten half the twelve serving cake I made for my husband. And then I would have tried to rationalize by saying "well, I haven't eaten all day so I just had to have something", or "I just couldn't help myself!", or "I didn't eat it all!"

Now I eat what is good for me most of the time. I do sometimes give in when I have a craving because I know how to use moderation. It hasn't been easy by any stretch of the imagination. But the journey has been worth it. And the long terms benefits are amazing.
