Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

i think as a bypass pt i am a little offended by the wording of it. "gastric bypass effect" or something??...i dont know. maybe doc can shed some light on whether or not this is a viable alternative to the actual bypass.

Wow....I just read through all that info and Im not sure what to make of it. Hopefully Doc can shed some light on this...Im just wondering since there is no diet restrictions and you just eat whatever you want would it really work? I mean i guess it would kind of bc even people who has had the surgery and doesnt have dumping can still make unhealthy choices and eat what they want. Its still pretty pricey but to give a discount if you have certain health insurance must mean that some drs and hospitals must already know about it.

What the heck? I only skimmed through it. Did they ever say what the magical expanding fiber is? I'm dumbfounded, too.

Goodness....wouldn't you think that if this were true, the news would be exploding all over about it? Doctors would be recommending it.

It only has a 6-year track record. How far out is that 90% success rate statistic calculated? What's its long-term track record?

It does nothing to recalibrate the user to proper nutritional habits. We can't make WLS work without changing our relationship to food. How can they??

You can use one or two scoops but somehow it knows to expand to fill just 80% of your stomach. You can adjust the dose, but the effect is constant???

You have 20% of the normal stomach volume, so you can cut back to eating 50% less food. Wait a minute!! Cut the volume 80% and the food 50%???? What kind of math is this!?!? You put half the food in one-fifth the volume and you are gonna be stuffed tighter than a tick!!

"As you eat less, your stomach shrinks", but it's got all this bulk in it to enable you to eat less, so how can it shrink?

They make a point that you can eat anything you did before. Doesn't sound like the changes needed to make it last after you quit using it.

"Unlike surgery, the effect is customizable". Since when is WLS a "one-size-fits-all" deal?? There are so many options now you can customize a specific approach for any needs.

Exercise is not necessary. Recommend you eat low-calorie foods, but no nutritional training. They do recommend supplementation, though.

It looks to me like someone has combined "the easy way" with references to WLS to try and attract the fearful and uneducated. This thing has the same philosophy as the Hollywood Cookie Diet, but they added a lab coat to make it look more "scientific". She says right out that it's just bulk fiber that swells in your stomach.

Move along, folks!! There's nothing here for us. Someone considering WLS who hasn't made up her mind yet may want to add this to her list of things that don't work over time before committing to surgery. Personally, I think it's an expensive distraction.

This stuff has been around for a while. I've seen ads for it (because that's what they are, advertisments) a zillion times, I'd say.

i had to step away and come back. sorry i hadnt completed my thought and just dumped the link on you all.

*sigh* there are a few issues i have. yes, msvickie i did see that they are lowering the requirements for banding. part of me is jealous because it was so hard for some of us who actually NEEDED these surgeries to get approved and (knock wood) succeed. the other part of me is disgusted because it is now all about money and the *ease* of quick weight loss. lower the requirements and more surgeries will be approved and paid for without considering the long term effects. this is a LIFE CHANGE. there is nothing easy about any of this.

daperf: as for the calculations and the dosage information...it didnt add up to me and left me with a headache. i dont get how you can mix between 1/2 and 2 spoonfuls of this stuff and have it work out right? whats to stop a person from clogging and blocking off their entire gutt??? i dunno.

this is a new ad for me. first time i ever saw it was right before i shared it here and i feel uneasy about it. something is just not right...

4 yrs ago i probably wouldve done all i could to scrape up 480.00 to buy this crap. im glad i decided otherwise.

...more thoughts coming. i have a TON of head noise to unleash
