Hey RR family. It's definitely been a while since I've been here, and wanted everybody to know I'm still around. A few things have been going on with me recently, so I'll share a few (good and bad).

1) In the past 2 months, I've had two separate foot surgeries. The last surgery was January 7, and it was on both feet (yes, at the same time). Needless to say, I haven't been able to exercise much--not only because of the surgeries but the weather here as well. Don't worry, I am fine, I was able to start wearing sneakers this week, and I'll probably be in them for a while. I still don't do alot of walking yet, so exercising is still at a minimum, but hopefully I'll be able to get back active soon.

2) I'll admit I've gained a few pounds back. No, I haven't gained 10+, just about 6 or 7. I want to go ahead and stop this before it gets out of hand. But I'm sure that when I'm able to start exercising regularly again, things will be fine.

3) For sadder news--I had a friend that had a baby on January 10, and on Janaury 22 she had to rush him to the hospital because he couldn't digest his formula. The docs had to do emergency surgery on the little one -- had to enlarge is small intestine. The next day, they had to drain fluid from his lungs. The next day he stopped breathing. They were able to recessitate him, but now the question is how long did his body go without oxygen, and will it have effects on his brain. Needless to say, it's been a rough week or so for all of us.

4) In about 2 weeks, I will celebrate my 2nd surgerversary. I might have to "celebrate" with a (small) glass of wine

5) For my good news -- my "boo" gave me a ring for Christmas!!! He made it clear that it was not an engagement ring, but close enough to it. We had talked about rings earlier, but I was shocked he got one. The only reason I didn't get an engagement ring is because he doesn't want a long engagement. When he gets the "real' ring, he wants to be married within 6-8 months; I'm thinking more like 1 - 1 1/2 years, LOL. I guess I keep forgetting neither one of us is getting any younger, LOL. Oh, before I forget, this is the same friend that my mother was having problems accepting due to his age. She's finally getting better and my entire family accepts him. We had our yearly family Christmas dinner MLK weekend, and he was more comfortable around my family than I've ever seen. We're already looking forward to many years together!!!

I see we've got some new "newbies" since I was here last. Welcome to all of you, and you've found a great site for gaining/sharing information.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Yes, a big congrats on your "non-engagement" engagement...hahaha

Very sad news about the baby. I understand how terrifying it is when a baby is involved. Anything I can say wont make a difference, except we are here if you need us and I hope the wee fella will be ok *BIGBIGHUGS*

2 foot surgeries at the same time!! wow, thats a bit mean..lol Hope you are up on your feet and exercising again quickly. The lbs will come off.

Welcome back lots of newbies jumping on board and its great to be back and see the excitement at the start of their journeys.

Glad to hear from you and I know that you will get the few pounds off.

Will be praying that everything works out for your friends baby. All you can do at this point is to pray(if you are so inclined) and be supportive to the family.

So glad you found your way back home.
Once you get back on your "feet" I'm sure the pounds will come off. You have done awesome job, good idea to get it in control now.
Congrats on the non engagement. Glad to hear the family is starting to accept him.
I'll keep the little guy in my prayers. I hate it when little ones are sick....just not right!

Congrats on the good, my prayers for the bad.
Good to see you around, and that's the best news for us
(Unless you're around to tell us, we can't hear your news, both the good and the bad )

Hi, I'm one of the newbies and wanted to congratulate you on your semi-engagement and empathize with you on your foot surgeries. I had 2 surgeries also but only on 1 foot and ankle. How did you get around? A wheelchair? Cruising on a knee scooter wasn't too bad but a wheelchair would be a real pain in the a**. I do feel for you though about not being able to exercise the way you would like. It's frustrating. I'm glad the baby is out of the woods and will keep you both in my prayers.
