Tonight I sit staring up at the mountain I am going to climb. Just figured my BMI (OMG) and am wondering how I got here. It has been a tough four years, two knee surgeries and a couple of other life set backs and wow. I am overwhelmed. I am not sure I can do this, but know I must. 58.2 ...anyone ever overcome that?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

My doctor told me last week that at my highest my BMI was 60. It's now 25 so with the surgeon's intervention and your determination everything is possible. Good luck

You can do it if you want it bad enough. No it is not the "easy"way but it does work. All you have to do is follow the rules your surgeon gives you. Take it a day at a time and you will be surprised how fast the weight will come off. We will be here for you every step of the way. Welcome to the family.

It does seem scary and overwhelming at first. Make a list of things you have to do, then start crossing them off. It is a day by day thing.
Why are you doing this?
For me my top 3 were:
better mobility
healthier longevity
and the ability to buy clothing off the rack in a regular store/boutique
Once you make up your mind, you can do it.
I am 1o weeks out and will soon be 58; so my opinion is
YES YES YES you can do it.
It is up to you.

My list
Increase my Mobility
Increase my Longevity and life span
To decrease the fluid trapping in the lower extremities so my shin heals
Decrease the amount of insulin I am using.

Things I want to do, Go back packing again, ride a bike , walk my dog. The last year of dealing with my leg I have packed on some serious pounds and need to be able to walk around the block to loose weight.

Well minor updates, I am walking a mile a night most nights. Was feeling ill last night for unknown reason, still have not figured it out. But got my mile in but am up again at Two. Just could not settle in. I cut my own toenails the other day! Pretty cool thing for me. I tried on clothes in my closet that I have not fit in for a couple of years and they fit, some not so good right now but I am closer. Developed a rash last few days that I know not where it came from. Might just be stress over the surgery and the pace I am pushing myself. Most of the external wounds are healed except one, it seems to be slower. Actually rode my Motorcycle for the first time in a year. Mobility is up, life is improving, still hating the hell out of mirrors. Don't know when that shall change..

Well, there are several of us on here that started with a very high bmi, mine was definitely up there too. I'm just over a year out and have lost 201 lbs thus far, but do yourself a favor and don't compare yourself to others in terms of weight loss and time frame. Just keep following the rules, keep up with your water and protein, and the weight will come off. Along the way there will be humps and bumps, encouraging moments and discouraging moments but you can do this. (and if your anything like me, you really have to) Good Luck on your journey and God Bless!! We're always here if you need some help or encouragement, Lord knows I'v certainly needed it along the way too!

Hello and welcome to the best support site on the net!
Yep I started out with a BMI of 62! It's now 36 I still have a ways to go but I'll get there and you will too. Good luck to you on your journey.
