| Whipper Snapper | I'm sure you're all aware of yesterdays crash involving the Blue Angels.... It was about 2 miles from my home. The news reports have been VERY sensationalized.... we live in a remote county in South Carolina and our neighborhoods are very spread out. For the most part, the home lots here are in 1 acre increments at least. No one on the ground was seriously injured or killed. There were 8 reported minor injuries mainly post-crash. There wasn't a huge fire; minor fires here and there. The crash site itself is very remote with a minimal amount of homes or businesses. The actual highway it crashed on is just a short stretch of road linking the Marine Corp Air Station to the base housing. We actually heard CNN report the pilot hit a pine tree that was 300-400 feet tall.... where the hell do pine trees grow that tall??? We're loaded with pine trees and oak trees that average 110 feet tall like the rest of the country... Let me tell you, my phone lit up! Everyone I know from all over the country called!! Then our phone system jammed with usage so we got a break.... My heart goes out to the family of the pilot and their loss. Hearing the jets over the course of the last couple of days is always stressful. They fly so low and you know that in the event of a serious problem, they would plow into a house or two. My husband and I had remarked that one of these days, a jet will go down (whether it's the Blue Angels or one of our own).... well, that day was yesterday and it could have been so much worse. Again, focus your thoughts and prayers on the pilot's family.... we here in Beaufort are all okay.....
