I got the call today that my insurance approved the surgery, woo hoo! Hot damn, the advocate just submitted it last Thursday!!! My surgeon is on vacation this week but the advocate said we'd be scheduling the surgery for the next few weeks - I cannot even believe it!!! I am so stoked!

Since the whole process has become more "real" after the insurance approval, I spent some time reading more of the forum. One new member is expressing fear about the possibility of death as a result... My family has asked me if I'm scared at all... I am definitely in the minority of people in general because I am just not afraid at all. I've had a C-section (that was infected and had to be re-operated on) and two elbow surgeries in the past five years and all of those experiences have been so great, I have so much confidence in the medical community where I live. I think maybe I'm a bit naive and I'm definitely too trusting at times but this near fearlessness is really part of who I am. I got an email yesterday about a free concert in New York, I think most people would see that, even for a band that they love, and think "Oh, it would be nice to live near NYC and go to that". Me? I immidiately pull out my calendar, seeing what cold be shuffled so that I can make a flight or the 12-hour drive to the concert. Earlier this year on a Wednesday, I worked until 11am, went to the airport, got on a plane and flew to Tulsa. I went to a concert, slept in a hotel then caught a flight back to Ohio the next morning and worked half a day on Thursday.
Years ago, when I told my mom I was marrying a guy in England that I knew for six months, she said with tears, "I knew you were impulsive but I didn't know you were impetuous!".... I don't know, I just see opportunities and take them!! I am not scared of this surgery or anything involved at all! I cannot wait to be able to chase after my son in the yeard for more than 30 seconds and not lose my breath. I can't wait to run.
Thanks for listening to me, maybe me babbling about being fearless is my way of coping with some fear that I might have after all!
