| Just checking in.... Ok, so the really cool thing about this is the fact that I've tried not to obsess with my weight, just live life and make smart choices.
Ok, drum roll please ~ well, maybe not.....
Ok, so I'm at 182. Not thrilled. I havent been exercising like I should although I'm trying to get back in the swing of things. As I stated before, we had a pretty traumatic 2010 and one of the fallouts of that time is that I lost my walking buddy ~ scheduling conflicts and the like ~ so I've been trying to get my butt in gear but I'm not always successful. Of course with the heat and all it makes me that much more likely to find an excuse.
I don't find the numbers nearly as distressing as the size differential ~ I'm up a size ~ but again, this is a journey and I'm still much better off than I was before. Healthwise, BP, etc, I'm doing really well. Last night I went for a "walk" with my DD and we ended up going 5 miles most of which she was asking me to slow down!
On a positive note ~ some of the things I did not care for post weight loss ~ like how I looked!!! ~ are much better now. I have actually had people tell me I look like me now that the gaunt starvation look has left. My bones don't protrude like they did and I don't bruise nearly as often with a little meat on my bones. I also find that I like most of my curves ~ a new experience for me ~ and if only I could rid myself of my saddlebags I think I could handle everything else.
I think the biggest benefit of this journey has been learning to love me for who I am and not be focused on physical attributes ~ actually accepting myself, saddlebags and all.
Thank you all for sharing my journey~

How great to hear from you
Glad you're doing well.
Don't stray from the pouch rules, pop in here whenever you can, and you should be fine.
I hear the US is having a terrible heat wave. We've been having one too, but not as bad as yours. However, for the past week, we have a typhoon hounding our coast, which has brought the temp down a tad. Had a couple of days of 70 degree weather. Once the typhoon moves further away from the coast, it promises to get hot again.
So, make sure you're up and up with your fluid intake.
Oh, and last but not least, this time, when you lose the few lbs you've regained, you won't look as gaunt as the first time, because your skin has had time to adjust to the smaller you. |

| That's good to know ~ I'm glad you guys made it thru the typhoon ~ the lower temps are at least a silver lining in the clouds In Florida, it's always hot in the summer so we are prepared ~ AC etc ~ I feel for the midwest and northeast as they are less likely to have AC.
I've found that following the pouch rules have really been a lifesaver ~ not saying I always follow them to a tee but I would encourage others to really get them ingrained early and stick with them as best they can, it really does make a difference. Also, even just walking as an exercise helps you maintain ~ it's when you stop being consistent that gets you!
Thanks again, Doc

Hello stranger. It is so great to see you post again. I think you have done great not to have gained more and now you have come home for support and encouragement. We are here for you. I loved what you said about learning to accept your body where it is. I have been struggling with this for a while myself. I see so many people that get below there goal and get into single sizes and I though that is what I wanted but it was just not in the cards for me. My body said ok this is enough we are happy here so learn to live with it. lol We have to remember that our health was the main reason to have the surgery and if it is better then we are successful .... The scale is just a number. Life is the real test of how we are doing. I think you are doing well. The main thing we have to do is not gain anymore weight. I am really fighting with rebound weight now. There is a point that I will not enter into again. lol
Stick around maybe we can help each other with this. lol Good luck

Hi Clancy...thanks for sharing.
I'm still rather new, and learning everyday. Just now hearing things like I shouldn't loose anymore weight. Others have been so helpful in letting me know that my body is in control over this journey!
I've often wondered about the pics that flash at the top of the site and where and how those people are. So...just wanted to say thanks for checking in...it helps us newbies in knowing what to expect on down the road!
I think most of us feel like we're in a dream and we'll wake up and be back in the same boat. As silly as that may sound, I know that thought has been in the back of my mind at times.
Glad to meet you!

| Hey guys ~ you sure know how to make a girl feel welcome!!! Dr Mel it's nice to meet you
Yes, it seems we are partners with nature and don't always completely conquer it ~ if we do conquer, we'd like to think the battle is "over" but for me it's more like mowing the grass Nonetheless, I am very grateful for my RNY as it keeps me in line better than anything I've ever done.
CT I actually sent you a private message yesterday for a "perfesser consult". I'll try to retrieve it and re-send it ~ the screen looked different than I expected so maybe you didn't get it. Thanks for asking~~~
Wishing everyone a great weekend ~ stay cool
