surgery 5/7/07

Default Surgery Postponed

My surgery was scheduled for 5/7/07.... went in for my pre-op yesterday and was told I needed to postpone because of a possible bleeding issue. My surgeon said I needed clearance from a hematologist before she would operate..... seems like it's been one thing after another! Seems she overlooked this at my appointment in February. So, now I am scheduled for an appointment with the hematologist July 2nd and it will take another 2 - 3 months to get back on her schedule. I know in my head that a bleeding tendency must be addressed, but, in my heart I was soooooo disappointed! Will keep you posted once I see the hematologist.

I am also thinking of looking into having surgery in Bogota, Columbia becuz of a conversation I had with an associate. Has anyone had their surgery performed out of the country? Butterflygirl, didn't you go to Columbia?? Of course I would wait for the clearance to avoid a potential life threatening issue especially out of the country.

Thanx for listening!!!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Awee Dang Nettie....

Im sorry to hear this. Couple of questions for you....do you take arthritis medications? Celebrex, Aleve,Motrin...Asprin ETC? Or possibly have Fibermyalgia? Some times that will make your levels really low. They are you bleeding times..... Yep you have to get that fixed before surgery but somthing to bring up to the Dr. When our paitents are going in we make sure they arent on anything that contains anything that has blood thinners in it. Even Vitamin E is a culprit. Tylenol for pain or fever is all we allow for 14 days. Think about this and check your list. Its possible these are culprits. Just a thought. Nettie ......things are gonna work out for you. You keep the faith. Your fighting for your right to do it. Dont give up!

((((((HUGS)))))) Hang in there.
You've had one thing after another and that sure is tough, but here's wishing you that the hematologist will come up with nothing serious.
Hope you get cleared and get rescheduled soon!!

Nettie,

So sorry to hear that but things do truly happen for a reason. Hopefully all will turn out well and you will be able to have your surgery soon.

Hey, Ms Vickie.... to answer your question, no, I am not on anything that would thin my blood. I've always had issues with clotting factors; just none of the doctors I've seen throughout my lifetime considered looking into it. Again, I truly understand the logic behind it.... who wants to undergo such a radical procedure only to bleed to death? However, if she had been as thorough in reviewing my paperwork as I was completing it, this could have been worked up 3 months ago. Since I'm dealing with the Medical University of South Carolina, everything is such a long wait time. I began this process last September, finally got an appt to see the surgeon in Feb, surgery scheduled in May, hematologist appt now in July, then surgery rescheduled who knows when! It's been a long road and I'm a wee bit tired of it....

Bless your heart. I missed the part in your post about the clotting. The state university hosptials are supposed to be the best. The waiting times are bad for you I see. I would feel the same myself honey. Getting tired of it all. Yes the Drs should have picked up on this before now including the one your seeing should have told you back in Feb. Im sorry honey. All I can do is give you words of encourgment which somtimes dont help and I know that. I do know the hemotologist will find out what is going on and try to fix it.

When you get it going again tell that Dr you have waited long enough and feel you should be first! Sometime you just have to get right down to the nitty gritty like they do us. They dont mind hurting our feelings do they? LOL You still gotta hang in there. And keep the faith. Your fighting for your life. No one else is gonna do it. Just get things fixed the tell him your ready NOW ! Take care honey. I hope this finds you with a good day.
