Default Unsung Hero's Of War

A cold mist lays across the ground
obscuring every sight
while soldiers strain to hear the sound
of enemies in the night

Those who have managed to close their eyes
re-live the gruesome details of death
and no matter how hard each one tries
he can't help but see a friend taking his last breath

Each carries a prayer in their heart
to live through to the next day
they've been saying it from the start
though on their hearts it does pray

Rations are getting low
the soldiers are cold and tired
some of them can't help but know
they won't live past the next gun fired

They hope they won't be forgotten
years down the road from now
as they eat rations that are rotten
but they can not imagine how

Unsung hero's of war
did they know that they would die?
did they really know what was in store?
and that no one would hear their last cry?

These men they fought with bravery
a battle most long and hard
they've helped to keep us from slavery
many dead, many scarred

Because of them we are free
but was the price worth what they paid
it's up to you and i to see
memories of their sacrafice never fade.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Very moving Krys. My brother just came home from Iraq yesterday! I am so glad he is finally home. This was his second tour at 21 yrs old. The first time he was there, he was only 19. I just thank God everyday for us to have him home alive. There are so many families out there that have not been as lucky as mine.

Shelly, I'm very glad to hear your brother is home safe and sound!
You and your family must be having a joyful reunion this weekend.
I sincerely hope that he is well in sprits as in body, seeing so much so young must be a burden when the rest of the world is spending their days in peace and calm. I'm praying for your brother's well being in everything he does.
(Sorry to hijack your feeling poem, freebird, but there is such a difficult world out there, my heart goes out to EVERYONE in that country--save for the insurgents, of course.)

I totally agree Doc. Oh and it's Poem (no freebird here, hehe), I'm so very glad that your brother is home safe, and i too hope he is doing well. Unless we ourselves or have loved ones over there most of us don't think of what they see, hear, feel, have to do. I hope you let your brother know that we are thinking of him and are grateful for his service. (I know i'm from Canada but we're all in it together). It would be cool if you shared that poem with your brother x.
